I'm sure he'll be ok on his own - definitely don't put him in with the bigger ones as they might eat/hurt him. I don't know too much about geckos but aren't they more sociable than beardies as in you can keep more than one together?

Hello all,

Sorry for the delayed reply I haven't had the time lately to keep track of the posts on here. Hope you all are well.

Have you found your corn snake zoe? How heartbreaking about George's eye. Has he adapted ok to just having one now? So does your cat still try to get George? When I bought Jade he was living with a woman who had a terrier and she couldn't get Jade out unless she locked the dog away - but even then he constantly barked. When Jade was in his viv the terrier would just be infront of his viv staring at him all day! The woman was so scared for Jade's life that she had to sell him.

Thanks Clarej I knew I had heard of a Male Jade but just couldn't remember who!! lol. A reptile room would be so cool. I do think that reptiles are addictive when you get one. When we went to the pet shop last week we saw the tamest and friendliest Cameleon! He was adoreable, he was sold three days later - I wasn't surprised due to how friendly he was but we were so tempted to buy him!!

Hi Westwind - a belated welcome to the site! Are you addicted to the site yet? lol. I am sorry to hear of your recent loss I haven't had my Jade for very long but already I am besotted and couldn't imagine life without him, I hope you are alright.

Hi Julie, I love the name spyro! What is it about dad's eh? My dad won't even touch Jade, he is very anti reptiles I think. Its funny that even when we are older parents still like to use their opinions to influence us!! My parents weren't happy when I said I was getting a pet, mum was easier to win over than I expected and now loves Jade!! ha ha.

Speak soon.

Am thinking of getting a chameleon as the next addition to the family. They are awesome! :blob5:
I had my brother and sister over in the week, they begged me to get Joel out, which i did and he run up onto my sisters leg, i seriously thought she was going to cry! LOL!
He'd never bite anyone, i think its because he isnt a cat or a dog, or fluffy, people think they are 'weird' and dont understand them!

George has been fine with one eye. It happened when she was very young so she's been without it practicall all her life. She's never been a brilliant hunter understandably but she gets by with a bit of help. She got a nasty infection in the missing eye a couple of months ago so had to go the vet again (£160 later  ) The cat is still very interested in her and sits in front of the viv meowing but it doesn't bother George. I haven't found my snake yet :(

Hi Everyone,

Are you all ready for CHRISTMAS??!!! I am excited, can you tel?? ha ha. I have taken a couple of festive snaps of Jade which I will upload in a new thread in the General section so if you fancy seeing them you know where to look. :D

I am so sorry that you haven't found your snake yet Zoe. It must be heartbreaking for you.

A question to you all, what live food do you feed your Beardies? I got Jade in October this year and I have made fantastic progress with him on the vegetable side of things - still trying to get him interested in fruit. He loves his locusts but he was spoiled by his previous owner so is pretty lazy at chasing them, he either likes to be hand fed them or wait till they walk in his path!! If they don't he'd rather sit there all day and go without!! Lazy boy. I have tried him on milworms (i think) but he wasn't as interested in them and he pays no attention to crickets. Are there other things I could try to give him some variety and any sites you would recommend?

Thanks in advance.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!! :blob5: :blob5:

hi there, i am sooo not ready for xmas it'll be down to christmas eve for me... the thought of the queues :( hey apart from that i'm sure it will be great  Ok food, i feed spyro Locust in fact im almost ready to breed them they are sooo expensive. Oh and spyro much prefers me to hand feed her depending on how hungry she is, or how busy i am... She also still likes her crickets. Now i was told beardies like wax worms although they are fatty and should be treated as a treat..well.. i've tried feeding her them, she takes them into her mouth and promptly spits them out, so i guess she doesn't like them although my gecko loves them. When she's a bit older and longer i will try her on superworms. mmm should be interesting :D
have a good christmas

Still no sign of Slim Shady the snake :( It's been 3 months now so it's not looking good. It's really weird though because I thought there'd be some sign (dead or alive). There's no nasty smell you'd get with a rotting carcass - my hubby thinks the cat got him but surely there would have been signs? I did all my Christmas shopping today and I am 100% sure we are going away next Christmas because it's just so much hassle.

As for food, George is on locusts and superworms with the odd waxworm thrown in. She totally went off crix about a year ago, which was fine by me as I couldn 't stand them :puke: As she is older now (20 months) it isn't as expensive, in fact I've cut her live food down drastically as she is looking a bit pudgy - she is 650g. She still doesn't eat as much veg as she should :banghead: :banghead:

Here is my little beauty

i'm sorry to here about your snake, i'm dreading jakes young corn snake disapearing she is sooo fast if she's put down, he would be devistated if anything happened to her. your beardy looks great, spyro's still got a lot of catching up to do to catch up with George, she's got cool chunky legs, spyro's are still rather slim for her size. Hey Everyone,
Hope you all had a good Xmas?!
I was in NY and flew back on xmas day. My sister was looking after Joel and Gordie. I got home to a really bad cricket infestation, i spent an hour and a half hoovering them up and i am still finding them wandering around 4 days later lol!

I really wish i had a garden with a shed so i could breed my own crickets and locusts, they are sooooo expensive!

For food, Joel eats crickets and locusts mainly. I gave him mealworms when he was younger but he wasnt interested. I tried again a couple of weeks ago and he loves them now.
I buy all their food from http://www.rickslivefood.co.uk the prices are pretty good and they usually have deals on 6 or more boxes too.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
