For those who don't know, amigurumi is a type of crocheted stuffed animals. I came up with a pattern to make a bearded dragon for myself but before I get a bunch of yarn and really perfect the pattern, I wanted to see if people would be interested in buying them. I have an etsy store that I would list them in if I did sell them. They are variegated orange on top and cream on the bottom. The legs have pipe cleaners in them so they are somewhat poseable.

that's cute. Maybe you could fill it w/ rice to make a beardie shaped rice sock so it would have a practical use as well as just looking good.

That is really awesome, I am very impressed! It even has the little spikes on the side and on the back of the head :D I do like the rice idea, though wouldn't the little rices escape from in-between the stitches? I would be interested for sure...

Thanks! I'd have to experiment and see if I could get the stitches tight enough to keep rice grains in. A warning though, when I showed it to my female beardie, she tried to bite it right in the face! So, I don't know if it would work as a beardie warmer...

The first one I made was about 9" long and due to the time and material cost, I would probably have to charge $18-20. But if I can get the size down to closer to 6-7", then I would hope for the cost to be around $15. The one that I made probably took 6 hours, which is crazy but it was my first time making one without a pattern. If I get the pattern worked out and written down, I would sure like to be able to make them quicker than that. :)

I think that's a very reasonable price. I do some quilting so I understand the time that goes into things like that!

If you put the rice into a fabric sac like they do with bean bags you wouldn't have to worry about it escaping and you could leave a hole in the bottom so the rice bag could be removed to wash the dragon.

Out of curiosity, how possible would it be to do things like lavender side bars and the like?

I would definitely be interested. I could use it in my classroom as a tool for my kids (I am taking my beardie Rex to school this week - we finally have his viv finished there). I would use it as a class mascot sort of thing - and let the kids take it home on weekends (since they won't be taking Rex home) and write about what adventures they have with it - we'd name it R.J. (Rex Junior)! The kids will love it. I would pay for a larger one too (and the colors on your sample one match Rex perfectly!)

Keep us updated.

Thanks! You're very creative. I could never do that!

That is an awesome idea, Sheri! I might have to buy two. One for me, one for the kids!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
