I have been thinking lately and decided I wanted to add to my beardie Family. So instead of buying a baby again I decided to shop to adopt.
I found a 3 year old Male Bearded dragon from a local who was moving and going to school and didn't feel he had the time to take care of him anymore so I took him off of his hands. He is amazing. The second he opened the car I knew he was my dragon. so I put him in a blankey and off we went.
The ride home he just slept in my lap in the blanket. ( i thought his tank was too cold for him to drive back in)
I get him home, and put up his tank in a temporary spot in the kitchen (across the way from Rexy), so he could warm up and so I could clean a nice area for him to live.
Here comes the interesting part...
she starts waving..... like crazy. its all very slow, and kind of like a robot actually. then she does it with both hands together. She ran back and fourth glass dancing for about 20 minutes, and then he started...
He started Bobbing his head and going crazy just running around and tossing sand everywhere. Now from what the guy told me about my new lizard "Constantine", he is calm and would most likely stay in the corner for days because he get stressed out. well... he is not just sitting around he is running up and down the rocks, back and fourth bobbing his head trying furiously to get to her. His beard turned black not long later, and he is just sitting watching her wave now.
so here are my questions/ comments so far, I've had him 3 hours haha....
He is 3 years old and she is not even a year old yet but they are the same size despite his giant head...
what are the ways in introducing them?
They certainly see each other from across the room and are dancing for each other... so they know one another exist.
I know its advised "dont breed them until they are older" and that makes complete sense, I dont want to breed them together...
but I want them to meet each other... do I just put them away when they start bobbing.
What are the chances of him being aggressive?
He has not had baths really the guy said because "Constantine hates water" but thats not okay with me... I will give him baths if he likes it or not because when he pooped the white stuff (urine I believe) was so rock hard, I could have used it as chalk on my driveway. How long should I wait to give him a bath? seeing as he just went through a new move/ new home and all?
He was in sand, and that clearly was in his poop as well so I changed him to the carpet like Rexy's tank has the second I got him home.
He has a red heat light and I've never used one because frankly I've always read people dont prefer them... can I get a clear answer if I need a new one or if this one is okay. PLEASE TELL ME
There is a possibility he is Brumating based on what the guy told me about his behavior prior to him coming home with me, but the lizard he described to me in the emails and the lizard I see in front of me behave like two complete different lizards. Im still looking out for that, he did say that he wouldn't eat for a while because he has a picky appetite and possibly Brumating/ stressed from the move but im hoping if he is this active and already pooped... maybe it wont be a week rather a day or two.. I hope.
He eats green beans & giant meal worms which personally I think are too big for him though he is used to him and loves them...
his poop was just so hard and huge... I also noticed it seemed particularly hard for him to squeeze it out. Im hoping that is not a sign of impaction. I didnt get a chance to feel his belly because we're not fully acquainted...
I am putting a photo of him and his poop on here, I am just curious if it should be so huge and black for only eating green beans and mealworms every few days..
Please dont mind the cleaning bottles behind the tank, Its just a temporary tank and in a temporary spot in my kitchen. I just wanted him to warm up and I took that opputunity to snap a photo of my new baby & rexy's new friend Constantine.
and his poop... hehe
Here is a video of Rexy I snapped as she started dancing for him...
Thank you for your time and for reading this guys
