I have been thinking lately and decided I wanted to add to my beardie Family. So instead of buying a baby again I decided to shop to adopt.

I found a 3 year old Male Bearded dragon from a local who was moving and going to school and didn't feel he had the time to take care of him anymore so I took him off of his hands. He is amazing. The second he opened the car I knew he was my dragon. so I put him in a blankey and off we went.
The ride home he just slept in my lap in the blanket. ( i thought his tank was too cold for him to drive back in)

I get him home, and put up his tank in a temporary spot in the kitchen (across the way from Rexy), so he could warm up and so I could clean a nice area for him to live.

Here comes the interesting part...

she starts waving..... like crazy. its all very slow, and kind of like a robot actually. then she does it with both hands together. She ran back and fourth glass dancing for about 20 minutes, and then he started...

He started Bobbing his head and going crazy just running around and tossing sand everywhere. Now from what the guy told me about my new lizard "Constantine", he is calm and would most likely stay in the corner for days because he get stressed out. well... he is not just sitting around he is running up and down the rocks, back and fourth bobbing his head trying furiously to get to her. His beard turned black not long later, and he is just sitting watching her wave now.

so here are my questions/ comments so far, I've had him 3 hours haha....

He is 3 years old and she is not even a year old yet but they are the same size despite his giant head...
what are the ways in introducing them?

They certainly see each other from across the room and are dancing for each other... so they know one another exist.

I know its advised "dont breed them until they are older" and that makes complete sense, I dont want to breed them together...
but I want them to meet each other... do I just put them away when they start bobbing.

What are the chances of him being aggressive?

He has not had baths really the guy said because "Constantine hates water" but thats not okay with me... I will give him baths if he likes it or not because when he pooped the white stuff (urine I believe) was so rock hard, I could have used it as chalk on my driveway. How long should I wait to give him a bath? seeing as he just went through a new move/ new home and all?

He was in sand, and that clearly was in his poop as well so I changed him to the carpet like Rexy's tank has the second I got him home.

He has a red heat light and I've never used one because frankly I've always read people dont prefer them... can I get a clear answer if I need a new one or if this one is okay. PLEASE TELL ME :)

There is a possibility he is Brumating based on what the guy told me about his behavior prior to him coming home with me, but the lizard he described to me in the emails and the lizard I see in front of me behave like two complete different lizards. Im still looking out for that, he did say that he wouldn't eat for a while because he has a picky appetite and possibly Brumating/ stressed from the move but im hoping if he is this active and already pooped... maybe it wont be a week rather a day or two.. I hope.

He eats green beans & giant meal worms which personally I think are too big for him though he is used to him and loves them...
his poop was just so hard and huge... I also noticed it seemed particularly hard for him to squeeze it out. Im hoping that is not a sign of impaction. I didnt get a chance to feel his belly because we're not fully acquainted... :)

I am putting a photo of him and his poop on here, I am just curious if it should be so huge and black for only eating green beans and mealworms every few days..

Please dont mind the cleaning bottles behind the tank, Its just a temporary tank and in a temporary spot in my kitchen. I just wanted him to warm up and I took that opputunity to snap a photo of my new baby & rexy's new friend Constantine.

are you using a spiral fluorescent? if so, you need to turn it off asap. they can cause serious damage to BDs eyes. also, red lights are not appropriate for daytime lighting. they are on the wrong end of the spectrum; get a white one, make sure it produces some UVA(UV is on the purple side, IR on the red side of the spectrum).

the arm waving is normal; its a sign of submission. if you see this behavior from the one, chances are the male is sending aggresive signals and she is giving in. when i had my two rescued dragons together, the male would always dominate the female. she could never get the prime spot under the heat and UV-B lights because the mal would block her or lay on her. i was finally able to seperate them when i got another tank.

since you already have two tanks, i advise you not to put them together. instead, move her tank out of his line of sight. if they cant see eachother they can relax instead of worrying about dominaing or submitting.

it is probably not what you want to hear, but it is not recomended to house bearded dragons together. they shouldnt even see each others enclosures or theyll get flustered. they only time it is appropriate to house two dragons together is when you are trying to breed them. even then, you have to watch them carefully. after he succesfully mates with her, you must remove him. so even if you eventually plan on breeding them, it is not advised to try to house them together permanently. 2 dragons pretty much means 2 tanks and 4 lights(unless your using mercury vapor bulbs).

by the way, what are those two lights i see in the video?

do they have a fluorescent light of any kind or are those both heat lights?

*edit* i was looking at the video closely, and it looks like the one on the left(the bluer one) is a spiral or compact bulb. even tho it is probably a UVB compact meant for reptiles, they are no good.

correct me if im wrong, i only saw the bulbs themselves for a brief second in the vid.

Thats so helpful, Thank you very much.

I didnt intend on housing them together though its good to know to keep them in different spots in general. I dont want to breed them, I was mainly referring to when they roam in the house, but it seems like im just going to have to keep them separate there too. unless they can be out together for like 5 minutes under strict/ very close watch... (???) its not a problem at all though, i'm surely not disappointed if I cant im actually glad to have answers. I love him and am very very excited to have him in my home.

i think it would be ok for them to interact outside of the cage. if you watch them, i dont see any reason they cant hang out as long as theres no aggression. if one is scared of the other it probably wouldnt be thareputic to put them together.

YAY!

Thats great news. Im happy to hear that its not bad. I dont think I will do it too much, but just to try once or twice.

Im perfectly content having two separate beardies/ tanks I can love individually though, I dont need them to worry about each other..
it just seems like its too much for either of them to handle in their day, the stress of another dragon I mean.

Thanks for all of the help.

You said the guy told you Constantine was calm and would stay in the corner. I'm sure at his old home he did.Can you imagine living three years in a world where you were the only human, then all of a sudden one day you encounter another human. Imagine what your reaction would be

He's a good looking dragon...good luck and enjoy your new guy

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
