The faecal only showed roundworms. His weight is 510g and is pretty stable. We pay ExoticDirect £12ish a month, they're paying the vet directly so that aspect of this is thankfully sorted. The antibiotic is one that starts with an F, fortan maybe? It's a broad spectrum one xx

Hello everyone,

Firstly thank you to everyone who has given us advice over the past 3 weeks. I'm sorry to report that Ryu passed away last night, we put him to bed as normal at 2200 and found him earlier today after noticing he hadn't climbed up onto his hide like he normally does. We are devestated but we hope that it was nice and peaceful for him.

Cuddle your spiky friends a bit closer tonight and say a little prayer for our guy xxx

Sorry to hear about Ryu not making it. It does sound like he went in his sleep, it sounds like you did what you could for him and now won't have to make a difficult decison about his future.

I;m so sorry that your boy didn't make it. You did what you could to try to find the source and get him help, and my heart goes out to you. I agree that he fell asleep relatively peacefully, but I know it's still so difficult to have this happen. You have all my sympathy.

We've buried him in the garden and scattered some wild flower seeds over the turf in the hope that he'll have a pretty resting site in a month or so. Turning his vivarium off last night was gut wrenching - I think we're going to have to get rid of it sooner rather than later because it's just a constant reminder that he's not here anymore. Because of the virus we'll throw his hides away because they're quite porous but I think we could donate the vivarium to our local animal rescue centre, provided we let them know about the virus so they give it a thorough clean etc before use.
