How did this go Karie? I just gave my 7mo old his first dose of the stuff tonight for coccidia and am always interested to hear other beardie owners experiences with side effects on meds. Elliot did horribly on panacur a couple weeks ago for pinworms and it was so hard on him that it spiked the...

    Panacur

Chillyreefa, sending you a message since our dragons are going through the same thing. Maybe we can share progress and change noted to help each other out

    Panacur

I've been having the same issue with my 7mo old Elliot! She was on panacur for four days at .17ml. She went from eating 30-40 small dubia/day to not wanting to touch anything at all within ten min of her first dose. We got her to eat 10 dubia on day 2 after having given her .5g of soy yogurt...

Reptisun 10.0 T5 w/ reflector too bright for Crossfire?

Hi Beardie Fam, So... Elliot is 7months now and has been avoiding her UVB shortly after transferring her into a crossfire viv from her 40ga about 6 weeks ago. Her appetite remained voracious and everything normal except that she started shying away from the UV light and hiding in the corners...

    Juvenile brumation

Thanks gang. I think we done growed ourselves a pretty good drago. I'm starting to think she's just being a fussy teenager! You mentioned adding a higher basking log but I honestly just removed the one I had in there bc she refused to use it! I have some great fake rock structures and hides...

    Juvenile brumation

Thanks for the replies. Yes, she is 6 months old (previous reply was mistaken). She is good size at 16.5" and 310g as of yesterday, and is still gaining weight steadily at around 25-40g/week. Not a fatty by any stretch but likes to eat her dubia and salad for sure! The current pic of the viv...

    Juvenile brumation

Hi all, checking to see if anyone can share their experience with a juvenile going into brumation. After ruling just about everything out short of a visit to the vet (happening this week), and reading a lot of brumation info, it seems like Elliot starting to go into brumation at just about 6mos...

Temperature woes in my Crossfire (halp!)

So it turned out to be thermostat reading issue after all! Like a dummy I used my cheap plastic thermometer to measure the basking temp (BIG MISTAKE). They were superheating under the plastic cover and giving false readings about 30deg too hot. Naturally, I turned down the dimmer.... so my dudes...

Temperature woes in my Crossfire (halp!)

I have a zoomed stick on thermometer/humidity gauge slapped on each end of the viv, and a digital probe that came with the thermostat in my cool end. Both zoomeds match the probe under testing and I feel good about the temp readings. I'm not worried about the thermometers giving falsies

Temperature woes in my Crossfire (halp!)

Thanks guys. It's honestly a little confusing bc there is so much conflicting info out there on what the cool side/hot side temps should be. I had actually tried to set the cool side thermostat to 77 during the day a few days ago (which is the night temp setting from 8p-6am) but even with the...

Temperature woes in my Crossfire (halp!)

A couple of weeks ago we moved Elliot from a 40gallon screen top to a 4x2x2 crossfire. Everything seemed great the first week but now he's spending a ton of time hanging out halfway in his hide and only basking after meals, and I can't seem to find the temperature issue that's causing this. He's...

Sleeping under paper towels to keep cool???

Thanks gang. He's sort of figured out that his hide is a good sleeping place over the past few nights so I'm a little less weirded out. Every day with these tiny dinosaurs is a strange new adventure. They are weird, hilarious little creatures.

Sleeping under paper towels to keep cool???

Hi freinds! So our boy Elliot is 16 weeks old today and has been a very healthy kid with normal sleeping, eating, pooping patterns since we've had him. He gains weight like a beast on a weekly basis and is super active and tame. Up until this weekend he has slept up on his log higher up and on...

    DIY Outdoor basking box?

As a new owner of a 3month old beardie I am having trouble figuring out how to get my dude (Elliot) some good old fashioned sun exposure outside. He's still too small to be able wear a harness and go on walks and I want to find (or build if I have to) a small, wooden & screened basking box that...

    Meet Elliot

After using this forum to learn everything under the sun about how to care for our new boy over the last 2 months, I came to realization that I have gone full blown "beardie mamma", and finally registered as a user. This site has been an incredible wealth of information! When we brought...
