    Thank you to fellow members

My last thread has been deleted and apparently CooperDragon has a reply that I could not retrieve. I would like to say that I have particularly enjoyed my posts with AHBD, CooperDragon, Tater, and others. I really like the detailed input from King. If I forgot someone please don't be offended...

New care guide on the web.

Tater, I agree with you. Caresheets should be a jumpstart, not the end all. I am in the process of moving and am going to up my cage sizes once I get to my new location for better enrichment. Articles and caresheets do have a recycled factor. The truth is that most people are never going to...

Is it okay to feed turnip greens that are not cut up?

You need to cut them up. Vet told she she once had an iguana come in for a respiratory infection that turned out to be a whole bunch of oversized leafy greens stuck in the back of its throat. The owner was feeding the leaf whole.

    Buying online

Rainbow Bearded Dragons a lot of times has juvies available. Personally I would not get a teeny tiny one in case parasite treatment is needed because the shipping stress and new home stress caused an imbalance resulting in a rise in parasites resulting in a vet visit and meds.

    Sudden abscess.

http://reptile-parrots.com/forums/showthread.php/5629-Fungal-and-Bacterial-Diseases-of-Reptiles I think the above article is good. I couldn't find black fungus in my search. I think this may address the issue Rankins raises concerning a scrap and fungal issues. Personally I would go with the...

New care guide on the web.

Well with the exception of increasing light times times to 12 - 14 hours, I think it looks good. I would imagine kale was left off as a staple green because of calcium binding (?) maybe. It comes up every now and then as controversial. I offer it. His care sheet looks very similar to the ones...

Is it okay to let my beardie interact with my dogs?

I would have the dogs crated, in an appropriate sized crate for each breed, before letting the lIzard roam. Do not let them interact with dogs and cats, especially ones with high prey drives.

    Sudden abscess.

Yes you can retrieve a poo from the water to test. I've done it a couple of times.

    Sudden abscess.

Vets normally want you to bring a fecal sample for parasite testing. The vet will probably want a detailed account of the diet and cage set up. I sort of see the spot but I wouldn't call it an abscess. I wonder if it is a stuck shed "bubble" separating prior to shedding off.

    Sudden abscess.

I looked at your earlier pictures of Bug (very cute name). He looked healthy in those pictures. It seems that you are worrying over everything and becoming very stressed. If you can find a qualified reptile vet, to ease your mind, you may want to bring him in for a wellness exam. I think at...

    Possible yellow fungus?? UPDATE

Taken from an article published in Reptiles Magazine by Dr. Kevin Wright. "Treatments a veterinarian would likely recommend Voriconazole is an oral antifungal drug that has shown promise but there are few truly long-term (>24 mo) success stories at present. Oral combination treatments of...

    Sleeping on the wall?

It is not uncommon. They can sleep in some very strange positions.

    Is she just brumating?

I am sorry to hear that. When something like this happens so suddenly we always want to know why. Unfortunately, it would be speculation on my part to try and guess the cause of death. You can contact the vet and see if they will do a necropsy or if they will send your dragon off for one. I had...

Is there something wrong with my beardie?

Is she mouth gaping while under her basking light or is she doing it when on the cooler side? If she is mouth gaping under or near the basking light she is regulating her body temp. If she does this on the cool side she may have a respiratory infection. Check your temps to make sure her basking...

A bit confused with set up

I've never used a prob, just a temp gun so I can get readings on the cool end, middle, and basking spot. I meant to also say that red lights during the night should not be used on dragons. It interferes with their sleep. That is the reason I suggested a ceramic heatile emitter, if night temp in...

A bit confused with set up

I use a basking bulb and 10.0 reptisun tube. Red lights are sold primarily for night heating, but healthy dragons do not need a nighttime heat source unless the cage dips below 70 degrees. Then, you would need to get a ceramic heat emitter. I buy my bulbs in two wattages 50 watt 75 watt. In the...
