Non mated Female question about egg laying

I'd say MOST DEFINITELY she'll lay eggs. They aren't much different than birds - they lay eggs as well whether they've been mated or not. I had an African Grey for 9 yrs, thinking the whole time it was a male, until I thought he was dying and then saw that SHE laid an egg! I'm hoping...

Non mated Female question about egg laying

Well Angie laid her 3rd clutch (of 30 eggs) this past Saturday! I sure hope she'll be over this and soon! I made her a new rock structure so that her laybox would fit inside her viv. Plus I put tile down on the floor as well. I still have to grout it but it will be fine for now. I'll grout...

    laying eggs

I got my first several bricks from Petsmart, but you pay royally for them from there. I ordered quite a few 3 packs from Petmountain.com to have/keep on hand for a lot less than what I was paying at Petsmart!

    So Irritated! Wasted $17

ROFL they are rather freakishly massive but not as big as I'd thought they'd be if that makes sense! I was hoping Angie would LOVE hers but she's ok about them. I can get her to eat maybe 2 - 3. There have been times when she spat them out though. I've had more die on me than she's eaten...

Non mated Female question about egg laying

I would definitely make a laybox. I know with Angie, she dropped her 1st egg and I wasn't sure what it was and the next day it was more noticeable so I ran out and got her a laybox. She laid 24 that evening. The second time (15 days after the 1st time) I knew what to expect so had her laybox...

Non mated Female question about egg laying

Thanks for clarifying that! Too much on my plate already and then add her laying like a crazy hen  I just wasn't "getting" what you were telling me! Sometimes I have to be bonked on the head! I don't think I'd spay her ..unless it was a "life threatening" issue. I'm just...

Non mated Female question about egg laying

For those that don't breed and have females that lay eggs - how often do they do this? WolfmanTom was nice enough to let me know that they could lay every 21 days for as many as 6 months. But what about afterwards? Do they take a break, do they ever really stop totally, has anyone thought...

Refuses to eat anything but superworms.

You're not alone. I got Angie in April as well. She was a HUGE lover of crix and would often eat as many as 70 in a feeding. Then I had her eating Hornworms, Phoenix Worms, Silkworms as well. She totally turned away from crix (thank god really) and I need something so tried Supers. Now...

    laying eggs

Angie has laid 2 clutches already and she's just under a year old. I use the Coco Fiber (looks like a brick, add a gallon of warm water and POOF, it turns into dirt). Put that in an 18gal bin, cut a hole out so she can get into it and I have that in her viv. Granted she makes a HUGE mess...

    Egg in feces?

Angie did that before I got her laybox ready for her. Get a laybox and see how she does after that. So far Angie's laid 2 clutches in 2 wks time, both clutches 24 eggs each. I'm hoping she'll be done with this infertile madness and soon!

HELP in regards to egg laying

Ok another question - Angie laid more eggs Saturday (that was closer to 2 wks than 3) and I haven't gotten them out yet but will do so today. My question - once they go thru this cycle of however many times for 5 - 6 months, do they stop for however long? If so - how long? I don't think...

HELP in regards to egg laying

Well I think Angie is going to lay again but not sure when. Looking at my one post of where I said she looked bloated and then when she laid that clutch - there's 12 days in between. We noticed she looked bloated again the 24th (Christmas Eve) so figure 12 days after that (which is around 19...

HELP in regards to egg laying

Well she did finally poo - it was a huge one too! My son left it for me to clean up - so nice of him! She seems to be eating a wee more as well. Got an order of waxworms in yesterday and she ate a few of those. Not sure what waxworms are, but they look like very VERY large maggots...
