The Creation of Dewey's Crossfire Viv!

It's looking really good Mandy!! And, I really like the second basking spot better. Some things to keep in mind as you build your styrofoam furniture (AKA things I learned building my styrofoam furniture): -- as you add on layers of grout, detail disappears so exaggerate anything you want to...

    Bloodbank's new video

I felt the exact same way when I saw their video!! Always sorta wanted one, because their beardies are pretty amazing, but definitely not anymore. Especially if they did it just for show. Even watching the scorpion get torn apart bit by bit was pretty awful. :(

    Permit for BD's in NJ

If you are concerned and want to know for sure, I would call your vet and just ask, because they would know the local regulations. But we definitely don't need a permit, except for snakes larger than 6 or 8 feet in some counties. :)

    Beardie Ripper Toe Nail Out!!!

Awww, poor guy! Like they said, though, these things happen. One of my iguanas did that when he had some out time. I just put some betadine on it and made sure his environment was super clean. Eventually the quick part fell off too, and now the nail is growing back quite nicely. A bandage isn't...

    Beardie Cake?

That's really clever, I love it!! I agree, definitely take a pic, and let us know how your beardie likes it! I have to admit, I have honestly never thought about making them cakes. Until now.... You're such a good slave! :D

    Hip Leash - Opinions pls

So here's those pics showing (or trying to show) how tight I put the hip leash pointer finger to show approximate size pinkie finger Geordi wondering what I'm doing: Now if I were to gently pull up on the leash, this is how big the space gets: Of course, before you take your...

    Hip Leash - Opinions pls

That's quite the little Houdini you have there!! Here's an old pic I took to explain to someone how to make it. I can take another when I get home this afternoon to show how tight I keep it, because this doesn't really show; I cinch it enough to lay/wrap close to the skin, but not tight or...

    Hip Leash - Opinions pls

I don't know, I actually love hip leashes, much better than all the other harnesses / leashes I've tried. The other harnesses I've used I either haven't felt secure in the beardie staying on leash if they were to try to flee, or while on the walk the leash has worked it's way down the torso, no...

    Necrotic toe

I'm really sorry to hear about your beardie! :( Per wound management, I would use betadine instead of peroxide, but definitely great that you're getting the sand out of there, it'll just make things worse. Any amputation will involve anesthesia, but maybe that won't be necessary? *crosses...

    droopy eyelid?

Thanks for the answers! Genetics seems to make sense in this case, since it seemed common to various clutches. I've been thinking about getting a female, especially since the boys are sleeping, but I wasn't sure if I should be avoiding ones with droopy eyes. Sounds like it's ok, then :P

    droopy eyelid?

Hey guys, So something I've been wondering about for awhile but haven't found the answer to, is what causes some beardies to have a droopy lower eyelid? I had been browsing different breeder sites checking out the babies (withdrawl, all the kiddos are brumating :( ) and noticed a lot of beardies...

    play pen for a beardie??

Lol, what a wonderful slave you are! You could always get a collapsible wire dog kennel. But I would definitely make sure whatever you get is fully enclosed as beardies can climb screens and what-not, and it would be awful if your beardie got loose. I would also cover one end with a towel, so if...

Could some kind person look at this product please? :D

I'm building new vis as well, but when I looked into melamine it was waaaay too heavy for what I wanted to build for the beardies, so ended up with plywood. I did a bit of looking around and the thing that is safest for sealing wood is a water-based sealant, not oil-based because oil-based stuff...

    "HANDI-CAPABLE BELLA, PLUS OLLIE+ PYREX!"

Oh gosh Christine, I never got your email! I'm so sorry! :( I just went through my inbox and spam folders to see if I was crazy, because Yahoo puts a lot of messages in the spam folder and I just never think to check it, but couldn't find it :? I have a gmail acct, though, that has never given...

    "HANDI-CAPABLE BELLA, PLUS OLLIE+ PYREX!"

Oh, Christine, I'm sooo sorry to hear about everything that has been going on! :( I'm not on as much anymore, but if you had sent me a PM or email, I would have watched your kiddos for you in a heart beat! We probably would have had to move them all up here as I don't have reliable access to a...

    Beardie Tank Setup Help!

You could also check the pet section on craigslist. I've seen a bunch of cage furniture for cheap there, but depending on how active CL in your area is, you might have to be patient and wait a bit 'til someone posts it.
