    In Case Of Fire..!

I always thought I was the type that was prepared for ANYTHING.. Until today.. when my apartment building caught fire. I can't impress enough how important it is to have a plan in place for evacuating your pets!! It was something I'd not considered until the moment I was awoken from a sound...

    Taking beardie camping

I'm too much of a worry-wart to do it, but it sounds like you're pretty prepared! One thing I would add, is maybe some antiseptic and bandage material in case of an emergency injury. And locate a nearby-ish vet just in case. A week is a long time, anything could happen. (Told you I was a...

    TURTLES NEED TO GO!

What species? I agree with Jayson - do NOT release them into the wild. Best case scenario, they will probably die. Worste case, they will die, and will inflict damage on the ecosystem and other as well. Please contact a local rescue http://www.tortoise.org/cttc/adoption.html or your local SPCA...

How do people respond to your dragon?

Aw.. just had to weigh in on this. The most annoying comment I've gotten: "Eiiwww is that a frog?" I wanted to hit her. lol. But for the most part, people are fascinated. My snakes, well, they get a lot more hatred. Beardies have the advantage of being one of the cuter reptiles. My favorite is...

    Halloween!

Thought I'd chime in with Brock Samson's Halloween costume! He was very tolerant (aside from a little squirming getting the robe on) & was the main attraction at the vet hospital where I work. :) "Halloween, it is." -Tami*

Oh this is just awful *Exciting pic page 7!*

That poor little guy.. Can't stop tearing up over him! You're doing a wonderful thing by rehabilitating him. I understand that you want to help these folks and educate them, that's part of what being a reptile lover is all about. If you do decide to return him to your neighbors (assuming he...

    Poor Beardie =[ Petstore scam?

I can't believe my eyes sometimes. And.. considering the owner of the store doesn't seem to mind that the employees can't spell "bearded" or "complete".. well.. that just speaks to the type of person we're dealing with here, does it not? Uneducated.. we could at least attempt to educate them as...

When and How to put a beardie down?

I'm so sorry about Spike - he lived a long life and I'm sure you took great care of him. I just had to comment from the veterinary perspective. Nobody likes to take money from a grieving pet parent. One of the hardest parts of the job is the fact that we simply can't treat animals for free. I've...

    new puppy & a beardie

I just had a couple of thoughts to share, for what it's worth. You just got a new puppy. He's been in the home for a short time, adjusting to a new schedule, new surroundings, new people, new food, new EVERYTHING. This is a very educational time for this pup, but also a mildly stressful one. If...

New Greens, what do you think?

Hi guys, I'm looking for opinions on these greens - I grow herbs & veggies in Aerogardens in my apartment, and these are some varieties offered in their seed kits. Their "Mesclun Mix" includes mustard greens & endive, which my dragon loves, but also adds "Tatsoi" a form of itty bitty Bok Choi...

    Nature zone beardie bites

Hi Melissa, Very little research has been thoroughly conducted on the nutritional requirements of reptiles, & even less on specific reptiles. We're all kind of going on prior knowledge from successful breeders/owners and garnering info from what people who have very healthy dragons have been...

Mold in worm jug.. Ok or not?

Hi everyone, I did a search and found a quasi-helpful thread in the Feeders section but it looks like it kind of died in Jan. after only a couple replies, & I'm interested in this one. Since moving into an apartment, all dreams of roach breeding have escaped me. I hate hate hate pet store...

    fruits and veggies

Have you guys tried mustard greens or arugula? For whatever reason my dragon adores them both, while I find them vile. It seems the worse they taste to me, the better he likes them. :) Chicory is also a big seller for him. I think he likes the frilly texture. Diced seedless red grapes disappear...

    Chives?!

Thanks guys, he's doing just fine. I - like most beardie owners - merely panicked over nothing. :D -Tami*

    Can o' Crickets

I used them in a pinch on top of salad & my dragon ate them.. Just beware, the odor is FOUL!! I have a pretty strong stomach but my boyfriend got a waft & almost lost his lunch.. They also don't stay fresh for long. Totally not worth it, IMO. -Tami*

    Shedding & Ravenous!

Hi guys, My boy (just over a year) has always been a steady eater, eating both bugs & veg since he was a little kid. & he is in great condition (I call him a fat toad) even after his early brumation this past winter. His whole life he's been an every 2 to 3 day pooper - & they are ENORMOUS...

    Advice, drinking

TheWolfmanTom is right - you will not usually see them drink. Misting veggies will keep them hydrated, as will soaking them. Chances are if he's not drinking, he's not thirsty! :D I taught my boy to drink from a syringe in just one day, so it's easy to monitor water intake. But they're pretty...
