Poor Beardie =[ Petstore scam?

Walked by this pet store and see a huge beardie maybe 4 year old in about a ten gallon tank, right on display in the main window so all the kids run up to it and bang on the glass to see if its real. half of the ten galon tank is a bowl of water. you cant really see but there is about 20 huge crickets all around the tank. it just looks depressed and fat. i dont know there selling the whole setup with the "all sales are final for this whole setup" kinda thing. about 400 dollars for the whole setup with a tank which is unacceptable.

thats horrid I just wanted to scoop him out and save him! I have seen big beardies, but this one looks like its purely too much food and lack of any exercise. Not healthy at all poor thing. I live in the UK but I am still pretty sure that that price is way too much. Unfortunately I am willing to bet that if you reported it the authorities would either say they couldnt do anything or that he seems ok because he is obviously eating and surely he wouldnt eat if he was unhappy. Some people are not willing to look into this sort of thing at all

it just sad that their selling a whole setup of stuff with a tank that is unaceptable for the dragon. and is WAYYY overpriced. 400 dollars for lets see here.


ten galon tank plus wire top is 30 dollars.
tiny fixture and bulb no more then 25
long ubv light is 30
wood chip substrate thats already used i would say 5 dollars
large waterbowl is about 15
rock is about 5 dollars.
climbing vine is no more than 15
the stand thats holding up the tank can be no more than 20 dollars.

Ive rounded up the price of everything just in case and the dragon alone is worth $255 dollars. rediculous.

That's horrible... poor guy, I hope someone manages to talk down the price and saves him. That's just ridiculous...

it sucks because even if somone does have that amount of money to pay for the full setup. they probably wont know that its not acceptable to have the dragon in such a small setup.

Unless it is a mom and pop type of shop, that store has a manager, and even better a district manager. Do we if this is still set up like this? I bet you they would take down the sign and place him in a larger cage if their phone was ringing. . . ..

they took the dragon off display and replaced it with a bird. its still in the back with all the other reptiles in the same conditions =[

I can't believe my eyes sometimes.

And.. considering the owner of the store doesn't seem to mind that the employees can't spell "bearded" or "complete".. well.. that just speaks to the type of person we're dealing with here, does it not? Uneducated.. we could at least attempt to educate them as to WHY this is wrong, and HOW to fix it. If it were to continue.. let's talk law enforcement. They make animal cruelty laws for a reason. I'm not ashamed to make some noise in getting them enforced!

Poor little thing. I'm glad sometimes that I don't have the space or the means to take in more rescues. I'd be dangerous.

Poor little guy =( My beardie was a rescue from a pet store. He was in a tank that was way to small for him and 10-15 other baby beardies, and his tail was broken in several spots. I think the employees should have to take a test before being able to work with the animals. Especially with the reptiles! These poor critters have feelings too.

Happens a lot. Unfortunately, there is no real test to make sure employees know how to deal with the animals they are selling.
