    Properly gutloading your feeders

If you don't have thousands of them you probably won't notice them eating too much as they won't leave a dent but believe me... They are! Put a few thousand together and they'll eat a grapefruit and a pound of chow in 2 hours. It gets ridiculous LOL!

    Discoid vs Dubia

This is their biggest advantage right here. They do tend to breed a little slower than Dubia though. Other than that the sometimes emit a little bit of a defensive odor when disturbed but nothing that bad.

    Properly gutloading your feeders

I've been getting a lot of questions as of late concerning Dubia diet. I wanted to start a more recent informative thread that people can check in on and see what people are feeding their feeders. So please, if you read this let us know what you are using as feeders and what you are gutloading...

    Roaches for a beardie

Dubia are the most popular but people feed everything from Discoids, Lateralis, Lobsters and even hisser nymphs. Dubia and Discoids are the best because they are meaty, a little slower, and will fill your dragon up faster. They'll eat Lats and Lobsters like they would crix, in large amounts...

    Dubia ratio

In real small colonies like you have it may not be too big of a deal. The males do get rambunctious though and in large colonies and hundreds of males coming out when the lights go off they really cause problems in the mating dept. If anything I'd just feed off some Males and get it down to 20...

    Dubia female

First she has to hook up w/ a male. If you don't have too many adults or is these are the first of your colony to turn into adults it takes a little while before you'll see nymphs. The more adults the quicker and easier they mate. I'd say you should see your first batch of nymphs if you are...

Where'd all the Discoids go yo?!

Alright who's holding all the Discoid roaches hostage? C'mon tell Mr. Roach Ranch!!! LOL! I've been trying to locate some Discoids for the past week and a half and it seems that either they all got deported outta the country for lack of a greencard/VISA or a couple of you's are hoarding...

    Dubia ratio

I like to keep them at a 5 to 1 Female/Male ratio up to about 500 Females. Anything over 500 Females I go 10 to 1. I even go like 15 to 1 in colonies over 2500 Females. I used to keep way too many males until my buddy Jason "The Roach Guy" gave me this tip way back. I believe he keeps his at...

    Shipping Dead Loss

I can tell you right now that I have not heard one bad thing about Great Lakes Horn Worms since they've started. I've even referred some of my customers looking for hornworms to them. Have you tried to contact them to see what they can do for you? We all make mistakes and a good company will...

    Dubia Escape!!

You know for many many years I NEVER had a roach escape by chewing holes in their enclosure until last year when I answered a post on this very board that they'll chew thru screen mesh like crickets. I was like "No Way".... Wouldn't you know it about a week later my Adult Male bin (which had...

    Dubia > Crickets !!!HANDS DOWN!!!

Great job on the story. I've been using feeder roaches since 1998 and if it wasn't for a chance encounter w/ them at that juncture in time I was getting out of the Lizard hobby altogether. That's how much I HATE crickets. I give them another 5-10 years and crickets will become obsolete in the...

    Discoids vs Dubai

The whole Florida issue comes down to a bunch of BS. Unfortunately as a business we have to provide the disclaimers on our sites just to keep the feds off our backs. But those laws down in Florida are about as enforced as the mighty Blue Laws up here in New England. Which basically means that...

Dubias im breeding for my beardie and leo =)

The spikes on a cockroach are called Sensory Bristles and are it's means to find everything from food to water to a mate. On larger species of roach such as Dubia you can sometimes get what feels like a bite. However you are not getting bitten rather jabbed by one of it's bristles. I tend to...

    Male Dubia

You guys have fed WAY too many Dubia to your Dragons and now we have a shortage! Good going guys! J/K :D ... I am out. Add Jason The Roach Guy onto that list as well http://www.theroachguy.com . And you could always check in w/ Aaron Pauling at http://www.aaronpauling.com I may have to...

    do supers bite?

I concur w/ everyone else. Bad information, totally false and never documented. I would worry more about impaction which is a very real possibility when feeding incorrect sized mealworms and Supers (not saying that you are). I'm just saying that if you're going to worry about an ailment worry...

    HELP!

I'm w/ Frank on this one. The only time I've really seen mold devastate a colony is when it goes unnoticed in between egg crates or when there's moisture in the frass. Clean your colony every few months, keep good ventilation through the colony and don't mist the colony. Those are the best...

    chicken mash

Just be careful where you get your chicken mash. It has been known to carry grain mites and those will devastate a Dubia colony. Other than that I know of quite a few people who use it w/o problems.
