All these dubia roach suppliers, who's the best eh?

There are no "new" strains of B. Dubia within the united states, as all current breeding stock has originated from the same imports. Regardless of who you order from, your not getting any new genetics. Also, some of you might be suprised just how little diversity there is when it comes to...

Are There Mites on my Hissers?

Most mites can not cross species. I in the case of your hissers, they were simple grain mites...and pose little risk to your reptiles. Considering your reptiles diet is not even close to that of the mites....I wouldn't worry about it. Keep an eye open however...and perhaps pick up some mite...

    Cheapest crix in southern Cal?

Not sure if the crickets are for the little ones or not, but have you tried supers? You could buy larger quantities, as they last much longer than crickets. Nice site btw, I love your dragons!

mulberry farms has a sale going...I have used them with good success in the past. They allow local pickups, and offer cash discounts. I wouldn't be suprised if you could get 1k for $10....especially with how many you buy.

    Dubias- Light cycle needed??

There has not been a study on breeding production under various lighting conditions. Its common knowledge that a nocturnal creature would prefer the dark...but what, if any, harm does a 24hr night cycle do? When I get the time, I am going to set up a dubia colony with a light cycle and check...

Are There Mites on my Hissers?

Hissers commonly carry non harmful mites with them. That said, in large numbers even these benign species can pose a risk. Here are some methods of mite control I recommend. #1. Introduce a predatory mite to eat and kill off the bad mites. These cultures can be purchased online, and typically...

    Repti Heat Cable

flexwatt heat tape is very common in the reptile industry. Several roach breeders I know use it with great success on their colonies.

    Repti Heat Cable

Can they climb it? I personally would be a tad bit nervous with that setup, but it seems to be working for you! Heat cable is much safer than many heatpads...so thats a good thing. I wish you luck!

    # of roaches adult beardires eat a day?

I find clipping or ripping the wings off is a tad cruel, and I do not practice it. As long as your temps are correct, and the dragic of sufficient size, it shouldn't be an issue. Also, if you have to replace the uneaten male....he may die from damage recieved during the wing removal....so don't...

You route it on the inside of the bin? In contact with the roaches? Many people use heat cable with great success.

I feel like i cant keep the roaches in good habitat

If your having issues controlling humidity, add some substrate. I like coconut husk substrate, but other things will work. Dubia like to burrow...and a damp substrate (on one side) will provide all the humidity they need. Does this make cleaning the bins harder? Yes it does...but you can go...

    # of roaches adult beardires eat a day?

He breeds and I assume feeds Blaptica Dubia. Dubia are a medium sized roach, and unless your feeding something truly large (B. Fusca, G. Portentosa), it shouldn't matter. Obviously smaller species like N. Cinerea (lobsters) and B. Lateralis (turkistans) will require more per feeding.

    Cricket Pricing

They get massive shipping discounts. I looked into something like that myself, but I would need to ship 100 times more stuff than I do to get any kind of deal. Testement to how many orders flukers ships. USPS is stingy with commercial shipping discounts, but UPS and FedEx hook it up if your a...

Roach Colony Overkill for Only One Dragon?

Whats an affiliate add? Human heating pads are made to standards MUCH higher than that of any reptile pad. When was the last time you heard of a human heating pad malfunctioning and burning someone? Seems this happens with animal pads all the time, but it would be a major lawsuit if it happend...

Roach Colony Overkill for Only One Dragon?

You can start a colony with just a few roaches, but it will take awhile for them to breed up. I suggest starting with at least 50 or so, and giving them as much time as possible. A colony that small can be fed and watered once a week...and left to sit for several months while they breed. Keep...

    Help me out please

Regardless of who you buy from, all you need are the roaches, a water source, and a place to house them. Food is easily handled with cat food and the occasional fruit and veg. You'll also need a heatsource for proper breeding, I suggest using a human or reptile heating pad on one side of the...
