I have been getting Budo's crix at PetCo ($$$$$) for the past week while I try to find the cheapest cricket farm online.
Below are my results for 1,000 adult/6wk/1" crickets on various websites, listed in order from cheapest to most expensive. Of course these prices are not including shipping, heating (in cold places), or anything like that, which may change your opinion.

reptilefood.com - $11
flukerfarms.com - $14
ghann.com - $15
bcrcricket.com - $17
armstrongcrickets.com - $20
tophatcrickets.com - $24
carolinapetsupply.com - $36 (<---includes winter express shipping)

Please add other sites I missed. :) Hope this all benefits you. Again, choosing the cheapest crickets is not always the best option, as they may be unhealthy, unsupplemented, not in your area, etc.

I'd also like to add that I found out about most of these companies through Reptile Magazine's advertisements. Normally I hate magazines because they have so many adds, but with Reptile, I read all the adds, too! Great way to find the cheapest stuff.

Really, shipping is what can get you. Shipping prices can vary by location/distance shipping, and some places use a flat rate. The best thing to do is find the closest farm to you. You should be able to get them sent to you for about $20, though.

I don't remember how long it is that crickets live, but be sure that you don't order too many. If your guy eats 20 adult crix daily, that would be about 150 weekly. If they only live for 8 weeks, then they would all be dead before you can feed them. I don't remember how many you said your guy eats daily, but I do remember he's almost or already an adult. I also don't remember how long a cricket lives for, but you might want to check into this before you order 1,000 of them! I only get 500 at a time - they grow too quickly to keep them and my girl doesn't like them when they are so little in the beginning.

I was going through the pre-order steps at reptilefood.com, and it turns out that to have one order of crickets sent to my house, there is only $6.50 shipping. I don't know where they are located, but it must be somewhere close to me. Anyways, you definitely have a point about keeping too many. 1,000 worked for the purpose of comparison, but you're right, I probably should go with 4 or 500. He only eats about 10 1" crickets a day. (With the exception of today; he's not eating any! I don't know what's up. He loves his crickets.)

I ended up going with fluker farms. 500 crix and 1,000 mealies for $22, overnight shipping included. Pretty good, I think. And most of the crix were alive, though I expected them to be in a bag inside the box. What a surprise when a bunch of big crickets come flying out at me! LOL.

did they say overnight shipping because overnight shipping should have cost as much as that order???

They get massive shipping discounts. I looked into something like that myself, but I would need to ship 100 times more stuff than I do to get any kind of deal. Testement to how many orders flukers ships. USPS is stingy with commercial shipping discounts, but UPS and FedEx hook it up if your a big shipper....in fact, big online retailers make decent money from their reduced shipping fees....assuming they don't pass on the savings.

It was $3 extra for overnight shipping, if I remember right. I would have done 3-day shipping or something, but this time of year, I expect all the crix would be dead by then.

I just placed an order with flukers for 500 crix and my total order with express overnight was like 23 bucks. Hope they arrive in better shape than the ones I got from lllreptile.

In terms of alive, there were only a couple dead ones in my shipment of 500. But they were just in a box... no bag, no nothing. Like I said before, it was a disaster!!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
