little brown bugs in dubia colony

YIKES. I've been noticing these little brown bugs too------I don't know what they are. Hopefully some kind of cleaner? What happened to your roaches? Did they just die off?

Roach Colony Overkill for Only One Dragon?

I have one dragon too. My colony is still growing but eventually I will have lots more than bruno can eat. There are ways to keep this controlled. Once you have enough you can lower the temps in your roach enclosure---this will cause them to slow down on breeding. There are lots of folks who...

    putting feeders back when.....

Hmmm....good question. I would think it would be alright-----I don't butterworms are as delicate as silkworms------silks you cannot put back in because they bruise very easily and can spread bad bacteria that will kill off all the others------I think it would be alright. How many bw do you have?

    Silkie egg's still not hatched.

I've never tried to move the babies--------why are you moving them? Into a larger petri dish?

    Silkie egg's still not hatched.

Did you have any problems raising your last batch of silks on mulberry leaves? I know that when they have first hatched, you must feed them 'baby' leaves------because their jaws are not strong enough to chew the tougher, older leaves.

    lobster roaches

Lobster roaches are an excellent feeder and easy to get a colony going---they breed super fast. Only real downside is that they can climb almost anything, so you need a barrier of something----vaseline, usually around the top of their enclosure. Most folks seem to keep their colonies in large...

    Question about dubia roaches

Dubia are actually quite easy to handle----they are pretty much slow movers----more like holding a big beetle. They don't bite and babies will actually curl up in a death pose if it feels threatened. I did have an adult male 'flutter' his wings and glide to the ground the other night. Was...

    The Turks are here!!

Congrats.! You can give your roaches ground up dry dog or cat food. Mine seem to prefer the cat food and I've heard dry dog food can contain pesticides. Also offer sliced banana, if you have one. Apples, orange slices, squash, greens,-----etc. Oats, corn meal, dry cereal, bread...

    Question about dubia roaches

You can keep them in a large rubbermaid container------with a lid. Either poke holes in the sides close to the top OR you can cut a portion out of the lid and glue a screen on that. I keep my dubia in a large aquarium and use heat tape for heat. Some folks use a basic human heating pad. Keep...

    Can turks infest my house?

lol  I personally think any roach has the potential to infest----maybe not so much in cooler climates----but still, they could survive. Lots of warm, dark places for any roach to live in housing and they can survive on anything. really. BUT if you are consistent and constantly...

    Silkie egg's still not hatched.

If you live in an area that has mulberry trees, then silks are the BEST way to go, for the summer. And that is only if you don't mind going out to collect small branches w/leaves once, at times, twice a day, every day--- until all the worms cocoon. Chow is WAY too pricey and silkies eat LOTS...

    Beardie Bath

It's so cute because when I first slowly submerge bruno he tries to jump out----but then gets all relaxed and settles into the warm water. :blob5:

    IS this true?????

They do munch them up pretty thoroughly. And YES supers DO bite-----little wiggly boogers------it doesn't really hurt, just gives you more of a CREEEEEPY feeling. Sometimes the feeling freaks me out so much the superworm goes flying across the room, unintentionally. I try to hold the super by...

    Tail Swollen?

As long as she is eating ok and doesn't show any unusual signs----like being very lethargic----I'd say, don't worry about it. I can't think of anything else it could be other then fat storage. What are you feeding her and how often do you feed?

    Tail Swollen?

Your beardie is okay. That 'bulge' is actually a normal place for beardies to store fat. Is he/she eating ok?
