you can use tiles. understandably bearded dragons cannot get impacted from them, and they absorb heat and file down nails. however safe ways to put these in must be researched. don't use sand. it can cause impaction, even in adults.

make sure he has a repti-sun 10.0 fluorescent bulb, t8 or t5. t5 might be better for your tank size. or a mercury vapor bulb (t-rex or powersun).

That looks like "glass dancing". They sometimes do this when the temps in the enclosure are too high/incorrect. It is possible that your beardie is hot in the tank and wishes to get out because of that. Remember, hot side temps shouldn't exceed 110-115f, and the ambient temp shouldn't exceed...
