    Confused! Lighting! Heating! Conflicting Advice!

Hello, Yes the information can be confusing! :? I've gone through that too. UVB - Inside mounting is fine, many people recommend it, and I guess if it's mounted inside the 5.0 should be fine. The UV bulb is fluorescent, right? Because the coil ones don't work properly. It should also be a...

    Any advice?

Hi! I rescued a beardie in a similar situation back in August. He was missing his front arm (above his "elbow"), the stub still bleeding, was missing toes, had a very stubbed tail (missing upwards of 2.5 inches!), and a bloody face. He was also very thin and emaciated. At first he ate well, but...

    flooring

you can use tiles. understandably bearded dragons cannot get impacted from them, and they absorb heat and file down nails. however safe ways to put these in must be researched. don't use sand. it can cause impaction, even in adults.

    Yoda,I just got him yesterday.

make sure he has a repti-sun 10.0 fluorescent bulb, t8 or t5. t5 might be better for your tank size. or a mercury vapor bulb (t-rex or powersun).

    Red currants?

I bought some red currant for myself and I'm just wondering if I could give my beardie some for an interesting diet variation. Just wondering! -thanks! :D

    Swollen

Your care sounds good! A sixty gallon tank is very nice to have your beardie housed in, and is expensive, so good job! Your bearded dragon doesn't look skinny to me, but it is hard to tell in the picture. My bearded dragons' (I have 2) weights often fluctuate, so sometimes their skinnier and...

New rescue has giant swollen leg!!!

2 weeks ago I rescued a young juvenile beardie. He was pretty thin, missing one of his front legs, and being dominated by other beardies that he shared a small tank with. He was doing well; his leg is healing, he was beginning to eat on his own, gaining weight, and just seeming healthier and...

Bearded Dragon Going insane?!? (Video help)

That looks like "glass dancing". They sometimes do this when the temps in the enclosure are too high/incorrect. It is possible that your beardie is hot in the tank and wishes to get out because of that. Remember, hot side temps shouldn't exceed 110-115f, and the ambient temp shouldn't exceed...

    Mercury Vapor Bulbs?!

Thanks so much for the information. I will probably go with a mega ray, or the zoomed mvb.

    Bye, Little Mazais.

To Mazais. I have chosen not to use past tense when I am referring to you. But I will use past tense when I talk about your illness. Because you are not truly gone. You will forever live up in the clouds, in heaven. And in my heart. But you are not sick anymore. Your illness and suffering is...

    Mercury Vapor Bulbs?!

Hi! So, soon it will be time to replace my beardies' UV bulbs, as they are now 6 months old. But, lately, I've been contemplating whether I should switch to mercury vapor bulbs for UV lighting and heat. I know that they only need to be replaced yearly (though they are more expensive), and that...

My bearded dragons tongue is almost clean off!!!

Is she housed alone or with another beardie? It's possible that it's a beardie bite, but it's a weird place for a bearded dragon bite though. And how long has it been like this? Is she able to eat? I really think you should take her to a vet. I don't know much about the tongues of bearded...

Possibly Dehydrated Bearded Dragon! Need HELP Fast!

I agree with Pastel Beardie. Your UV light is probably at least part of the problem. You can order the repti-sun 10.0 TUBE bulb here: http://www.petmountain.com/category/286/1/reptile-fluorescent-bulbs.html . THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: START WITH A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF FOOD. ESPECIALLY WITH THE...

Please advise Hunch back thin near bottom legs

Well, growing beardies (tiny babies) probably need more calcium than grown-up ones. They can develop MBD quickly; and petstores usually don't have proper UV setups, either... He was fine a few days ago? That's peculiar. I'm not sure if it is possible for MBD to develop so quickly, but, judging...

Please advise Hunch back thin near bottom legs

Repti-sun 150 sounds like a compact/coil light. If it is one, then no, it's not sufficient; compacts and coils are bad for beardies.

Please advise Hunch back thin near bottom legs

He might be in pain (making him want to sit on the ground instead of the log) because the deformed spine means MBD (metabolic bone disease), or a calcium deficiency that causes deformities and weakening of bones, and is caused by a lack of UVB and/or a lack of calcium. That spine deformity...

Stress Breathing or RI? I'm really worried! Help!

I wasn't offended. Sorry if it seemed that way :D . I called my vet about this, and he said that it's possible that my beardie still has weak and/or damaged lungs because of the infection, and that the lungs will either heal eventually (in a "long, long, time"), or, my beardie will have a...

Stress Breathing or RI? I'm really worried! Help!

Yes, I have probiotics, and yes, she's now doing better. She began exhibiting these some of these symptoms about 2 1/2 weeks ago, and started to close her eyes 5 days ago. Since I took her off the antibiotics, she's been doing better. She still closes her eyes in the evenings while basking, but...
