If you look at the end you can see a very red tip to her tongue, I managed to have a look in her mouth and the tip of the tongue is attached by a thin layer of tissue underneath. I think this was cause by a live feed bite :( please help I don't know how to help her! It's just been bitten and it's hanging. It pops out her mouth every now and then so she has a bloody looking lump hanging out of her mouth. I was lucky to get this pic as I don't like to disturb her while she is basking. Poop is fine, temps are good, diet and appetite us fine but it's just her poor little tongue :( it's a freak accident and she is a chunky healthy beardie and she has a sister so please help!

Is she housed alone or with another beardie? It's possible that it's a beardie bite, but it's a weird place for a bearded dragon bite though. And how long has it been like this? Is she able to eat?

I really think you should take her to a vet. I don't know much about the tongues of bearded dragons, and I'm not sure if it would grow back if it fell off. Hopefully she is able to eat if it falls off. For now, I suggest using NATURAl unpasteurized honey and applying it to the wound as it's will prevent infection.

Hi there....it does look a bit red, it's still unclear as to the extent of the injury since they do curl their tongues at times, but I'm sure that you can see the true condition. If you can't get her to a vet [ and I'm not sure what they could do ] then you might just have to wait + see if it begins healing on it's own. The fact that she doesn't seem to be in pain and is still eating is a very good sign, showing that she's not in a lot of pain. Hopefully it will heal up, even if there's a scar. I agree that unpasteurized honey [ like from a health food store ] can be used, although she would swallow it quickly. And even if the tip DID fall off she would still be able to eat.

Thank you so much guys, she isn't fazed at all other than just the appearance. I worry a lot about them as they are dear to, they have helped me through tough times. They are very loved and therapeutic (by they I mean her and her sister) I am in 24/7 because I don't go to school. I witnessed this devolve after she has eaten her live feed. I kept checking. There was not even a drop of blood just slowly deteriorated... Thank you so much and I will try the honey. It was just a freak accident, I've heard that super worms can do damage so they are going Asap. Thank you so much!

Hopefully she'll heal up just fine. By the way, it's is really unlikely that a superworm bit the tongue, they can only give a very light pinch. I've handled many hundreds of 1,000's and been pinched once in a while and it always feels the same, not anywhere near enough pressure to break even the thinnest skin. So don't throw out those superworms....if you are still skeptical and afraid you can crush the head + then feed them to her.

Ok thank you, good news today and the end that is hanging off has shrunk in size and doesn't look as angry. My little girl is a trooper!

Bit of bad news guys, her tongue has deteriorated and has turned grey. Getting her to a vet first thing tomorrow morning to get her tested for infection or even get the tip of the tongue taken off for her. I'll keep you updated but again she is fine and eating/drinking well. Just her tongue :( (good news though, her sister is gravid)

Can you post a pic ? Their tongue tip can be anywhere from a rose color to a pale yellow/grey. It may be perfectly normal, especially since she's eating fine. If her tongue were injured I don't think she'd be eating.

No she isn't fine, her tongue has gone septic as it doesn't have sufficient blood supply. She will be in for surgery in an hour or so... Picking her up from the vets tomorrow

All the worry is now over, my baby girl is out of surgery and they could save the tongue! So relieved now :)

I'm really glad to hear that you got her problem solved, and that the vets were up to the task. :)

Thank you guys, it was exspensive but I'd do anything for her. Thank you. I would've been silly not to get her treatment! :)

I'm glad to hear your dragon is feeling better. What exactly happened, and what did they have to do in surgery to help her out? Do you have pictures of her tongue now it's better?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
