2 weeks ago I rescued a young juvenile beardie. He was pretty thin, missing one of his front legs, and being dominated by other beardies that he shared a small tank with.

He was doing well; his leg is healing, he was beginning to eat on his own, gaining weight, and just seeming healthier and brighter in general.

Today, after feeding him, I noticed that one of his back legs (not the stub, which is a front leg) was very swollen from the knee up. When I touch he swollen area, he seems to experience mild pain. He does use it to walk, and he's fast, though it's difficult to really tell because of the limp he already has due to the stub leg.

Tank: ten gallon, temporarily.
Temps: 95-110f on hot side, 87-95 on cool side.
Diet: assorted salad greens, occasional blueberries and raspberries, and of course daily pellets or mealworms, dusted with calcium a few times per week (trying to do more often!).
UVB: 6 1/2 month old repti sun 10.0 tube (the new one is literally on its way in postage)

Could it be gout? Or could it be a calcium deposit? Or an infection?

Hi there, can you get some pics on here ? To do so, post them on a site like photobucket and then copy/paste the img/url here. It's hard to say what it could be. Do you have an experienced reptile vet to see him ? For now try to get him in a bigger enclosure and get the temp. down by at least 5 degrees on both sides. Offer oral hydration with an eyedropper or syringe. If he is developing gout he needs plenty of fluids. You can p.m. Drache613 [ Tracie ] for her input as well. Hope this is something that can be easily treated.

Hello,

Definitely, if you can get some pictures up for us, that would be helpful.
I would decrease his temperatures though right now, since he is in a 10 gallon.
The overall temperatures are too high with the basking being in that range & the cooler end up to 95. The cooler end needs to be brought down to a 78-80 temperature. If he isn't able to thermoregulate it can dehydrate him too much.
I agree, it wouldn't hurt to be proactive in case his kidneys may be having some trouble. Try giving 2-4mls of oral fluids daily. If you can pick up some black cherry juice, too for daily use it can help start to give gout relief.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
