2 weeks ago I rescued a young juvenile beardie. He was pretty thin, missing one of his front legs, and being dominated by other beardies that he shared a small tank with.
He was doing well; his leg is healing, he was beginning to eat on his own, gaining weight, and just seeming healthier and brighter in general.
Today, after feeding him, I noticed that one of his back legs (not the stub, which is a front leg) was very swollen from the knee up. When I touch he swollen area, he seems to experience mild pain. He does use it to walk, and he's fast, though it's difficult to really tell because of the limp he already has due to the stub leg.
Tank: ten gallon, temporarily.
Temps: 95-110f on hot side, 87-95 on cool side.
Diet: assorted salad greens, occasional blueberries and raspberries, and of course daily pellets or mealworms, dusted with calcium a few times per week (trying to do more often!).
UVB: 6 1/2 month old repti sun 10.0 tube (the new one is literally on its way in postage)
Could it be gout? Or could it be a calcium deposit? Or an infection?
