No I don't think so, he could very well get use to it and grow to love it. It's easier for them to grow into loving it if you start them going outside at a younger age, in my experience. The 36 enclosure is a good size, minimum for one adult bearded dragon. All of mine started in a 40 gallon breeder tank, 36x18x17, but they now each have 4x2x2 enclosures.

It sounds like what you are describing is "pancaking", assuming he's awake and his beard/chest is its normal color, they flatten completely out and soak up the heat. Mine will start stretching their legs out when they've reached that "oh so right" temperature.

They're just cleaner bugs, they eat the droppings from your crickets. I've never fed them to my dragon, I just always leave them in with my bugs to help keep it clean.

Very lucky for you...my closest herp vet, that I actually trust, is 4 1/2 hours away but I make that drive anytime I feel it is needed. :D
