Enclosure questions for a beardie as a classroom pet

Cher, I'm just curious how everything has worked out for you? I'm trying to convince my teacher friend to have a beardie in her classroom :D

    Tiny bugs in Dubia Bin

Yes, I'm getting chick start from the feed store - bet that may be it. They're white and they don't move as fast as the roaches but they're not slow. Thanks for the tip for the freezer! We got rid of our microwave. I've definitely noticed a decrease in the little buggers. Couple more weeks to...

    Tiny bugs in Dubia Bin

I was hoping they weren't mites. :/ Thanks for the tips though, I'll try drying them out.

    Tiny bugs in Dubia Bin

Hi everyone, It's been a while since I've been on but hope that you can help me. I have two bins (feeders and breeders) and the feeder bin has these teeny tiny little white bugs crawling around on the egg cartons. I have not introduced anything new in there for over 6 months, with the exception...

    Saffire is brumating!

My girl is 6-7 months and she's brumating as well. A lot of people say it can't be done but, there it is... Tested for parasites before and came back negative. Two weeks ago she slept for 24 hours every other day. Then she was up for about a week and now she's been sleeping for 4 days. She must...

    Worms in my crickets?????

Yes, definitely don't throw them out! They'll also eat any cricket poop and help keep your bin clear(er). :)

Tell me I'm not the only one...

OMG too cute! I have to say, though, that when I read your title and saw the picture, I thought you were going to say you're not the only one who puts lipstick on their beardie!

Should I be feeding my beardie more than once a day?

I agree. Babies eat much more protein than adults (80% protein, 20% veggies as babies, and opposite as adults). I think most here would say to feed him 2-3x / day and have him eat as much as he can in 10 minutes. He might have a belly today, and then tomorrow he'll be twice as long with no...

    Difficulty switching to Reptiworms?

Dubia are FANTASTIC! Are you living with your folks? Roommates? Do you have your own room? Dubia are fabulous when it comes to breeding. I keep my dubia bin in the living room of my 1 bedroom apartment and frequently host parties and get together. *No one* has ever asked what is in the bin, let...

    Difficulty switching to Reptiworms?

I personally despise crickets. Abominations, they are, lol. But, as you said, it's her choice. As long as she's eating enough, then who am I to say otherwise? :)

    Difficulty switching to Reptiworms?

When I fed Athena reptis, she would only eat a couple and refuse the rest. She still doesn't care for them. It might just be a personal taste with yours. Athena does get bored of her food though. While my dubia colony grows, I go back and forth between crickets and dubia. I would suggest trying...

    play time....

Too cute! My Athena would do the same thing when she was smaller. She's tried since she got bigger, but I'm afraid she'll cut through/rip the screen so I haven't let her do it the last month or so. She hasn't tried in a while. I thought it was very cute, and then we would go outside for a...

    Feeders in Apartments

Where do you all keep your feeders if you live in a 1 bedroom apartment? I have a dubia colony that I started just over a month(ish) ago. They've been content in the corner of my living room but now that we are putting up our bar, they have to go. Our 1 bedroom apartment is typically at 75...

    The Dragon Urban Legend....

ABSOLUTELY true!! Athena gets upset when she's not put to bed on her comfy blankets 30 minutes after lights go out. If looks could kill...! And if her salad is fed to her too quickly or the pieces are too small? MY GOODNESS! Why do I get surprised when she gives me the cold shoulder...?

    Important question about Dubia roaches

It's one of the best choices I made for Athena! She loves them better than crickets, and they really are so much easier. They're in a tub in the corner of my living room (I live in a small, 1 bedroom apartment) and no one knows they're there.
