ReptiSun 10.0 t5

I know optimal range for the t5 is about 12". In my cage though, the highest I can get it is 9". Will this be okay, or should I just stick with the t8?

What I'm asking is if I can mount a t5 ReptiSun 10.0 without a reflector at 9" away. I currently have a ReptiSun 10.0 t8, but want to upgrade, hearing that the t5s are better. The basking spot cannot be moved unless I tear the whole thing down and start again, which I am not going to do.

Yes, without a reflector 9" would be ok. You may want to make a light guard firmit to black glair to the viewer but exposure would be ok.
