Keep up the good work, Barbara, they sure are healthy and I'm sure glad they're not going thru the Big Sleep. Slowing down is normal anyway, for this time of the year. Just keep loving them as you've been and we'll be celebrating many birthdays to come! :notworthy:

Since they are 2 bearded dragons together they should be twice the size of 1 bearded dragon.

By the way does each head get fed? if it was be I would be having fun feeding each head going one for you one for you and keep going.
Also does the owner favor the head on one side more then the other?

Have you read this thread? I know it's long but it's very interesting. Each head controls that side of the body. So Wheezie on the right, facing them, controls the right side and Zak controls the left side. They both eat live food and salad. They have a towel slightly raised for their basking spot in their viv. They have scoliosis as a result of the spine splitting at that point on their back. You can see it plainly in the last pics. They are fascinating and a miracle. They also have different personalities. Please read the 1st few pages, there are pictures of them from the day they were born. Barbara loves them very much :love5: :love5: and worked hard to keep them alive and thriving. They are the oldest living 2 headed dragon and have had a newspaper artile written about them and their family. They were in "Ripley's believe it or not" magazine last spring. There is a link somewhere in this thread that shows the drawing. They have a strong will to live and hopefully will have many birthdays to come.

I simply am under the understanding that they were born with the hump.

I'd also like to thank everyone for always being there for me/us.

No! Actually most 2-headed bearded dragons(2-headed one body) lack growth hormones an are not of normal size for their age Z&W do not lack growth hormones as much as most, 17 inches is not that bad.

As Deborah (Sweetiepie9) mentioned those answers are within this thread but yes Zak and Wheezie both get fed and both eat though they like different things.
Dear how could I favor one more than the other? :roll: I love them equally. An if I didn't one would become depressed which would sadly end in death.

Actually the hump developes around 2 to 3 months of age in bearded dragons with 2 heads. (If you look at the pic's of them when they were little and there are more on page 1 of this thread.) All 2-headed creatures with the exception of snakes(they have no spine) have this hump where the spine splits even human siamese twins. As for the scoliosis it is in their lower spine and this is due to Wheezie being bigger than Zak. The spine had nowhere to go other than to curve.
