Barbara, the guys look great. Boga and I are still here just haven't been posting much. I love all the photos and videos. Warm weather is here to stay in Florida and Boga is enjoying her daily sunshine. Keep up the great work and congrats on the Ripleys book!

Three years old!! Wow, that's amazing! :)
Cool videos!! Which one is the dominant? Does Zak or Wheezie have control over the body?

Yes, If I remember correctly, each beardie controls it's side.

Lori is correct each controls the leg, arm, and lung on their side of the body.

They do not at this time have a dominate head. I've worked very hard with them on a psychological level to avoid this. Example they are not allow...not that they can not...to chase live feeders. Due to the fact that the head that was able to catch more would eventually become the dominate as the other would become depressed. Also we refer to them as Zak-n-Wheezie but that is not how we address them when speaking to them though. The reason being is that when they were very small I noticed that Wheezie was acting rather sad and it worried me so I had this brainstorm that maybe it was because we always said Zak's name first. You can call me crazy or you can call me the Dragon Whisper either way....I decided to do an experiment. I for several days called out Wheezie's name first and guess what happened? Yep Wheezie perked up and Zak started acting bummed. So when it comes to them everything is done equally. For instance one head may eat more in a day than the other however the offerings are equal. I never offer one something whether they take it or not without offering the other something. This has definitely helped on minimizing dominacy and stress.

Sandy not only is photobucket being a pain but guess what I've filled another account already.
I didn't feel like creating another so I just deleted some of the pic's like NARBC from last year as they were posted in a thread that was locked anyhow. Hopefully I didn't delete any that were posted in this or Bye, bye, brumation thread.

Okay so Saturday the small nearby community of Clovis Ca. had a first annual outdoor show for outdoor activities like hunting, camping, fishing, boating, and some odd and end stuff that I didn't think fit in.
We decided to take the boys out for some sunshine since it was 90* out and to meet some of the community. Here are a few pic's of Z&W's Saturday. I decided to take a break for the day and let Frank carry them around.

This one appears they are going for their salad however this is the famous escape to
the cool end...see that look in Wheezie eyes?

Wheezie just wanted to rest Zak on the other hand wanted to take a nap...so of
course as a good slave I helped them out with the porta hide.

Okay now onto some more serious conversation which I'd like to hear what everyone thinks of my thoughts.

Pertaining to the reoccurring URI's that Zak gets and Wheezie doesn't. I think I have discovered what's going on there. Okay some of you may remember some of the concerns I had about the boys maturing and one of them being that I worried there would be some sort of choking or restriction as they got bigger. Moving one when we were out with them Saturday at one point Zak opened his mouth to regulate and I could see phlegm...I'm thinking oh no not again. :( At closer examination I noticed that Zak had a piece of greens lodged in his throat this also happened or I notice the same thing the last time around. AH! Now Zak being the only one that gets this URI and phlegm build up is beginning to make sense to me. See I could never figure out why only Zak if it's such a contagious infection the URI???? Now it all makes sense I was right to be concerned about the restriction in their throats as they got bigger. See I unlodged the piece of greens allowed them to bask for several hours while outside in real UVB. And by the time we got home the phlegm was nearly gone. Two days have gone by now and still all is well no excess phlem. So starting today no more greens for Zak and Wheezie...well not as in a salad in their dish. I will now be placing the greens and all larger pieces of salad into the food processor and hand feeding. Will see now if Zak still has this reoccurring issue.

Okay off to see what other pic's are deletable from photobucket so I can post some pic's in my other threads of the other scaly puppies.

I wish I had been able to see them. :)
Did you get any really funny questions from the people at the outdoor show?

Hey Barb! Love the pics from the show. Z&W are such social butterflies. What a wonderful life they have with you and Frank... being toted all over and stealing all the attention at the shows they go to. I see Freddie was at the show too! Did he carry Z&W when Frank got tired???

About Zak's problem... I thought the same thing you did, when you mentioned him always having the greens stuck in his throat. That's a great idea to make them slurries for now on. More work for you, but well worth it! I hope it goes well :D

You are hands down the BEST slave ever!!!!

I always get off the wall questions.
Here's something I chuckled about for a couple of days. Usually when we take the beardies out in the public we here "oh look at the iguanas!" I here that so much it actually makes me a bit angry though I try not to show it. Well at the show we had this one family come up to us and say "oh are those geckos?" :laughhard:

Dawn it so totally makes sense to me that the greens are getting stuck so they will begin to rot causing bacteria. DUH! Only took me 3 years to figure that one out, but I'm almost positive now that's the culpret.

Barb I think you may be on to something. Just call their name every other time and see if that changes things up. You will just have to remember who you called first! :laughing6:

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
