Hey, Zak-n-Wheezie are awake. :blob5: :blob8: They look great Barbara. Did they eat much today? Bet they didn't like having the cool end blocked though. :silent: Yes, the black bearding is to be expected until they fulling wake up. Bet their hormones will be kicking in shortly, then the head bobbing will start, right Barb? Thanks so much for posting pictures of those precious guys for us. :p

Diane they seem to be wanting more protein than salad right now...I think they are trying to talk me out of veggie baby food.

I was shocked because Wheezie ate like 5 supers today and yesterday...and he doesn't usually eat them. They have nibbled at their salads but no gorging yet. :(

Oh the head bobbing will start shortly I'm sure.

Yeah, isn't it something how their bodies call for more protein after coming out of brumation. Is Zak eating supers now too?

If you get a chance, we would love to see a video of them and if you can capture the head bobbing once they start that, it would be great. :p

So Barbara, you know I'm out of my mind right now re: supers..........do you give Z&W the large supers, so do you crush or chop their heads off first?

Christine, I know Barb will answer your question too but I wanted to add that I don't remove the heads, my adults chew them very thoroughly. Have you ever fed supers?

Hi Diane,
Have you read my thread on "New babies and pics"? I am trying to get a feeder for my new beardies that can be a staple instead of crickets, or phoenix and butterworms that are so expensive. I've never fed my adults any supers, d/t the "eat their way out of your beardies stomach" myth, but I ordered large and small supers anyway to breed and give the small ones to the babies>>>>they loved them, but the adults wouldn't touch the large ones. I tried Dubia's before, but don't want to breed them right now, (my Ollie won't touch them before), It's mind boggling to me, and I know it shouldn't be. :?

Christine they do eat the large supers and no I do not cut the heads off. From what I see with my adult beardies they watch to see which end is the head and that's the end they bite. All my beardies chew them very well. However Wheezie in the past would only eat the white freshly shed ones only just the other day did he eat a darker one. :D

I was just thinking that what if one wants to brumate and the other wants to run around? Who gets their way?!

Actually this already happens with them as Zak is usually the first to start brumating...about a week later Wheezie joins him. When they woke last year Zak was awake for about a week before Wheezie. I just place them in the basking spot and cover Wheezie with a blankie so Zak can bask. I'd say the one that is sleeping is dead weight so that would make it hard for the other to drag him around. The wake one seems to wait patiently for the sleeping one to wake.

Thanks for the pics, now I've had my Z&W fix, are they still up? I know how busy you are but so glad you took the time to update. Hugs to Z&W, from Sweetie, Issy, Angel, Lonzo and Rubio, they were all awake today for their weekly baths, we'll see if they get up tomorrow!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
