Can someone please help as running out of ideas...we have had a beardie for 11 days now he is about 4 mths old...when we got him he ate 2 crickets then nothing for 2 days so we gave him 2 wax worms ( yes i know they r not too good for them but wanted to see if he would eat at all)..then we tried crickets and nothing ...then on wed we got some locusts and he ate 4 locusts...excellent we thought we have cracked it he hasnt eaten anything since but he has pooed today- and thats why we thought he wouldnt eat. we have tried today and he wont touch the locusts.

he is alert he comes to the cage to want to come out when we try and feed him- he is inqusitive and slowley starting to come out from under his log more. we dont handle him unless we need to bath him and have had to get him out twice as we had probs with his light but lets him come to us if we put him on the sofa.

basically we r are looking for some new ideas i mean hes eating the wax worms so nothing appears to be bothering him that im aware of...i do talk to him everyday does any one have any other suggestions- like ignore him for a couple of days bearing in mind we are out of the house mon to friday 8-6.

- cage set up
retisun 10.0 uvb tube 6 to 8 inches away from basking area
60 w heat lamp
paper towel flooring
4 ft viv few rocks
temps 100.00-105 F 80-85 cool area

thank you for all your advice

I would stop handling him for now, even though he seems ok with it, it could be a bit too much stimulus. Also, remove anything he can hide under, he needs to be out in the light staying warm. What are you using to take temps with? Are you offering greens while you are away?

Some dragons just take longer then others to adjust, him eating at all is a good thing. I would stop with the waxies though, its like feeding a 2 yr old a twinkie then wondering why they won't eat any veggies. Look into butter worms or reptiworms instead.

hi thanks

yeah we have stopped the waxworms we know they r not good for him....the temps are correct we have a digital thermometer and we have checked a reptile specialist .....we offer greens but nothing we only handle him to give him a bath as he is not drinking and when we take we take his log out he gets even more stressed so not doing that again and when he is getting colder he does come out- everything with him seems fine he just wont eat

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
