When I go back to pictures the first couple of days o got him it doesn't look like there was a spot on his leg. O could be wrong but I feel it might be a new one :(

What happens if I treat these spots and it clears before appt..... How will they be able to do a culture of it is not there anymore?

Should I call the place I got him and let them know or is there no point to that?

Great article!!!

Ugh I feel like it is YF and pray that it's not :(

Can y'all see that spot on his leg in the pic?

That's a great question. What is there to culture if the spots are cleared with fungal cream? I honestly don't know.

This is another area where I become concerned. If you read some of the older posts you will see people saying the spots have almost completely disappeared with fungal cream and then reappear later. In fact one poster made the comment that the spots were disappearing so fast she didn't think there would be anything for the vet to look at. The last post this particular poster made was that the vet did send off for testing. The poster never updated as to what the test showed. (I think I came on too strong with my get to the vet ASAP advice and disagreement with others.)

I am concerned that some people mistake the disappearing spots when using a fungal cream as a cure. As the link said YF is treated with internal meds, topical, and clean environment.

As far as contacting the store, I don't know. They may pull the dragons for observation or they may just lie to you and tell you they will take precautions.

Yes I agree 100% and do NOT want to just put a bandaid over the issue, I want it treated internally of this is what is going on with him. Just wasn't sure how the would do a skin test if it wasn't there anymore

In the mean time, can you get more close up pics of his belly ? And did you try to wash it off....it wouldn't be too hard if he soaked for 5-10 minutes and then you could do it quickly, even if he doesn't like it it wouldn't take long. A spot of dirt/bug guts /poo should come off if soaked for a few minutes.

Those pics are much better + now that you've bathed him and nothing changed it is a higher probability of being Y.F. If you've found a good vet they can do a scraping and get a culture from that area. Hopefully some treatment can help since it will be caught early. I think that applying the cream 2X a day would be good. Don't bath him anymore for now and apply the cream over his whole body [ except eyes ] at least once to kill any possible fungus that may have spread due to the bath. Not to be paranoid that it did, but that could possibly help IF it did. For now just offer hydration via syringe or eyedropper on his snout. It may take a few tries...drip, stop, repeat to see if he'll drink.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and post!
It means a lot.
I feel it might be as well and makes me sad. Is this an expensive process to fix?

If there is no spots when we got to the doc how are they going to scrap?
And I bought lotrimin as that was all I have

You're welcome. I think that if you just apply it over his body once [ except his face ] and then dab the belly spots once a day that they will remain until you get to the vet.

Ok I did just that for the most part...... As much as I could get on that squirmy little beardie. Just stinks as I hear this is a fungus that will kill him in the end and that's just sad.
This appt can't come fast enough..... going to call another place tomorrow to see if I can get him in sooner ( still a specialist) just a different place.

Thank again everyone! I will def keep y'all posted and j pray he doesn't get anymore spots.

O yea another question, so y'all still feel his toe is an injury or do u think this is the fungus?

I'm not sure what your vet charges for visits (this varies quite a lot depending on where you are). The medication I've seen the most success with is Voriconizole which is produced by compounding places like Diamondback Drugs in AZ and Wedgewood in NJ. A supply that lasts a month costs around $45 shipped if I'm remembering correctly. It can take up to a few months to treat but that will vary and it comes down to what your vet decides is the best course of action. I'm just trying to offer a ballpark cost. When diagnosed early, this is a treatable and curable condition.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
