Why are my dubias dying ???

I have had them for a couple of months now and find one or two dead a week . It's just the adults though . I have all the others in a separate bin and none of those dying . Everything is the same as far as set up , food , temp , ect.. Really don't think its old age either . Can someone please help me with this

Do you notice that it's mostly males or females? I've noticed that, in my colony, the males have 3 times the die-off rate that the females do. I think they're just more delicate...

Mine are doing the same thing, Shaw300. I had about 350ish in the bin and have had almost 60 die off in a week. No dead for at least a month before that. Mine are mostly males and large nymphs. Only one dead female, thankfully.

The adults that are dieing could just be getting old, males have a shorter life span then females. Nymphs shouldn't be dieing though, try increasing humidity in the bin and maybe change the food.

It's both male and female but more male dying off though . I'll change the humidity and go from there . Thanks for the input . Any other info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again guys .

Shaw300, have you gotten any new roaches that you've added? I just added about 300 to my colony and only after I got the new ones did I start seeing a lot of dying roaches. Just pulled out four more dead nymphs, though humidity is going up.

Same here! I just got new roaches that I added to my colony and I have had a ton die so far. I must have pulled out 20 dead and in the process of dying yesterday. I didn't have a problem before I added the new roaches. I hope this doesn't keep up.

Shaw I looked and you bought yours from a different place. Kalec and I both bought from dubi deli, it could be a coincidence or I'm hoping from being shipped in the cold. Time will tell I guess. :?

Yeah, really hope it's just a coincidence. It hasn't been that cold here, and they only started dying two-three days after I got my order.

That's when mine started dying. Its not cold here either but I know it was cold while being shipped so I was hoping that had something to do with it. How many dead ones have you found so far? Maybe we should write him.

Just my 2cents.... That's why you shouldnt buy adults... because you dont know if they are at the end of their life cycle (sounds like what you got)... You should buy them as large nymphs or the largest size you can get before adulthood....
