I find it really vague with info like "let them eat as many crickets as they want in 10-15 minutes" for example and so on for food consumption of beardies. Why isn't there a guideline of say:

X amount of grams of protein for a juvenile (and whatever for adult)
X amount of grams of veggies (carbs)
X amount of fat

???

It should stop when they are full within the time period. Bearded are not like dogs.... they will not eat if they are full and only eat when they are hungry. Most reptiles are that way.

bearded dragons are kinda newish to the pet world. exact amounts of nutrients take a long time of trial and error to figure out. It's really not necessary to know, all living beings instinctively know what nutrients are necessary and crave them when needed. Even with out own unhealthy cravings, sometimes it's because of some nutrient that's in it that our bodies learn to associate with it.

We know the basics of what they need. offer a variety keeping that in mind, give them supplements. and they're get what they need.

Even if there was a guideline, you won't be able to make your beardie eat anymore food than it feels like eating. Thats why its easier to let them eat as much as they want in a certain time span. They know how much food they need.

It may seem like a lot when a bearded eats, but bearded are big lizards. they are not like small geckos or anole. They have fast metabolism, and they have a big body to nurrished.... And bugs don't have as much nutrients and calories as mouse fuzzies and hoppers.

BTW the reason this topic sparked my curiosity to post was I saw something about hornworms and checked out on a site for them for sale, and noticed how they could for example "get up to 14g" which made me think...my original question and exactly how many of THOSE would you feed (obviously adults at that size I assume) due to that is a lot of weight in food and how much "weight" of food do they eat then..

How much to feed, I think it depends on the activity level, also. That's why providing him/her with enough space to walk about and climb is a good idea. I like to go as large as my space will allow.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
