Kinda corny but I name the males after characters from Warhammer40k, and my wife names the females after flowers.

Jeff

"Maggie" is short for Magnolia

It's difficult to name babies be cause you don't know their sex until they're older.

I love "regular" names. I knew a guy who had a dragon named Dave.
Athena's name was Marc Anthony until we found out she was a girl so we changed it to Athena. It goes well with Apollo...our male's name.

I wanted a name that was neutral because we did not know the sex. I had a few I tried for a few days but nothing clicked.

Well I was at the vet with my dog and we met a black lab named Harley who was female. I said that is perfect because it was neutral and we have a Harley Davidson.

If I ever get another I have a female name all picked out. I will share if I'm lucky enough to get her.

I am so glad that I found this thread! Its nice to know I'm not the only slave that has a hard time naming critters. My baby has now had 3 names in his short 3 weeks with us, but this one is final.....Stych. I crochet and knit and have several different projects in various stages around the house. I was unraveling an afghan that I didn't like, and suddenly heard a thump from the tank. I looked over, and there he was, frantically trying to claw his way out to get to the growing pile of moving yarn! I took him out, let him see the yarn, and he was totally unimpressed. I put him back into the tank and continued unraveling.........you can guess the rest. The whole time I was unraveling and re-winding the yarn into balls, he was doing his best to get at it. I don't know if he thought it was food because it was moving, but it was hilarious to watch!

Before I actually got my bearded dragon, I was talking about getting a white one and calling it "Grits".
I love grits, and my African American friends makes fun of me for it because I'm "not black, but so black" (because I eat Malto-MealGrits?)
And then after seeing a youtube video of a parrot standing on an Akai MPC beat maker (music production center), I was like "I WANT A BEARDED DRAGON NAMED MC GRITS!" My boyfriend has this phrase "kiss my grits" that he says once ina while as well.

So my boyfriend got me my bd for christmas, and of course, I named it "Grits". He picked the lightest one out of the bunch. Sometimes I call it "Gritsie" "Gritserella" "Gritsy Davey", all variations of Grits. We don't know if it's a girl or boy, yet.

My Japanese mother renamed it "Momo-chan" after the Japanese fairy tale "Momotaro". She talks to it and calls him a philosopher (I'm a philosophy major) and then sometimes calls him "Montesquieu".

So it has a few names, haha

I had a hard time naming mine, too. The nice thing is that once the right name comes up, it just sort of clicks.

My two beardies are brother and sister, so I wanted them to have a paired name, like Bonnie & Clyde, Roslin & Adama, etc. I'm a geek, so I like to give them sci-fi or scientific names if I can. I just couldn't find the right names, though, so I asked several of my friends to come up with some. One came up with Leto & Ghanima, who are Paul Muad'dib's children in the classic sci-fi series Dune. As you can probably guess, the books are centered on a desert planet, and since beardies are from the desert and the characters are brother/sister (twins, actually), the names were perfect.

In case anyone is wondering, they're pronounced LAY-toe and GAN-ih-mah.

My kids named ours Schnitzle after the charectar in thier favorite cartoon chowder.

Rah da rah da rah da, for those of you who understand! :D

Our bearded is Edward Cullen (I am quite obsessed with the movie it came from) and my husband named him this to make fun of me.

If it ends up we have a girl it will be Bella Swan, husband wants to make fun of me lol.

Harlee means wild-spirited, which she was when I got her and still is now. I also picked it b/c my husband Dale was very against me getting her and he loves Harley Davidson motorcycles. But I changed the spelling b/c I don't like Harley motorcycles.

Now Dale reeaally didn't want me to get a second one, so I named my second beardie Daliz after Dale's Scottish ancestry and his love for Dallas Cowboys football. But again, I changed the spelling b/c I'm not Scottish and I hate football.

But now that a couple years have gone by (though he won't admit it) I think he's rather attached to the beardies. The next dragon I get is going to get the girliest name ever! Ha ha!

Our beardie was already named Bowser when we got her...but the previous owners thought she was a he. They named 'him' after the boss on Mario Brothers, because they already had beardies named Mario and Luigi. We've already decided that if we ever get a male, we'll name him Trogdor after Strong Bad's dragon, from HomestarRunner.com.

"Kaveri" is "friend" in Finnish, and since it's a gender neutral language like English, if my boy turns out to be a girl, that'd be just fine! =)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
