Where to buy silkworms??

Hey everyone,
I havent been on in a while and will update you all on Diablo soon but i just wanted to know where, besides Mulberry Farms, can I order silkworms and other worms for Diablo? I really would like to get him some more silkies cause he loves them, as well as horn worms and butters. I really don't like mulberry farms, because they never have silkworms and you have to buy over 14 dollars to order. Does anyone have any other site that ship in the US for worms? Thanks so much!!

Amy, everyone in the US gets their silkie eggs and supplies from Mulberry Farms. They are the only importer of silkie eggs in the US. I don't like their shipping costs.

Yeah, I can tell that EVERYONE in the US gets the silkies 4m there, they are always sold out. ugh... It bites!

I guess I have to check back everyday. I would get the eggs but last time I tried to breed the moths the eggs never hatched so I do not think I can get them.

Well I guess I will just get the horn worms then for now.

I've always avoided mulberry farms for some reason. Their website isn't that appealing.. They do have a great selection of worms, though, but their cricket prices seem high. I am still using crickets, and until her protein intake slows down, I can't afford their worms!

I'm giving butterworms a try.. I have looked at prices in bulk for them, and it seems that carolinapetsupply.com may have the best prices on them (and they offer different shipping options! YAY!).

The eggs you get from MF will hatch. This why I only tried to breed silkies once for educational purposes for my grandkids but I have hatched millions of eggs when I was selling silkies. Matter of fact, if I was using them for a feeder, I would hatch the eggs and watch them grow so I know they are healthy.

I just placed an order with costal this weekend. I ordered the silkworm kit and hopefully I will have it Thursday. I will let you know how the worms are when I get them but I may not be able to post anything until Friday because I'm going in for knee surgery on Thursday too.

Yeah I ordered 100 silkies on Sunday. They should be here tomorrow or thursday. Im hoping tomorrow, although I think Diablo is in brumation so I dont know if he will be awake or not. I hope so. I miss my baby. lol

I will also let every one know how their quality is. I think that they are alot cheaper than mulberry farms.

All my sources are out of silkies and butters till january. Just ordered phoenix. .. will alternate with the pain in the butt crickets. Just when I wanted to stock up because of holiday shipping and days closed. My first experience with butters was GREAT for all the reasons we like. Guess I'll be creative.

Yeah I feed Diablo crickets but I am going to try and convince my parents to let me start using Dubias. I hate crickets with a passion. lol

Okay, I got the silkies from Coastal Silk Worms. They arent the BEST quality but they definately arent the worst. They are alive and juicy. lol So it was not a waste of money. I just forgot to order the silk worm food. oops.. They will be eaten before they starve though.

Thanks for sending me that link to the website. I think Diablo deserved his favorite worm. lol
