I'd love to get multiple answers on this one, if possible.

Where do you like to order your bugs from? How much do you spend monthly on bugs & shipping costs? I'd love to avoid crickets but they seem to be the cheapest option right now.

Any help would be very, very much appreciated! Thank you!

First off, how old is your beardie?

I feed my 7 month and 10 month old superworms. Small supers for 7 month old and large for my 10 month old. The small or micros are safe for younger dragons. You can get these at mulberry farms. www.mulberryfarms.com They were having problems calculating the shipping prices correctly, so if the shipping seems unusally high, email them and they will refund the difference.

Also www.greatlakehornworms.com has small supers and hornworms, and those prices are good,

Repti worms are also a very good staple, but don't stay as long as supers. I can keep my supers for months in bran cereal. Reptis can last up to a month as long as you keep them at 50 degrees. At room temp, they only last about 2 weeks. They have cheap prices at www.reptiworms.com and the shipping is really cheap too compared to other sites.

Hope this helps.

Thanks lauraj! Those are the sites I've been looking at too. I was just wondering if I was missing somewhere cheaper.

I don't have a Beardie yet but we're almost ready for one! I just need to figure out what bugs to order. We were looking at prices last night and I was kind of shocked to find that I could be spending at least $60 a month just on bugs! lol

We're planning on getting a juvie...something semi-young but a little bit durable. There is an awesome reptile pet store nearby that we're going to buy from.

I was thinking of buying the postage paid pack of 4 silk & horn cups from Mulberry Farms and an order of 1,000 large reptis. That's $80 worth of bugs. How long do you think that would last one juvenile dragon? Should I order less reptis and get some supers instead?

It all depends on how much he or she eats. I got my Ollie when he was 7 months old and he was never a big eater, maybe 8 supers at a time, and that was on a good day.. he mostly only eats about 2 or 3 a day with his greens. Phred my 7 month old when I first got him would eat 60 small supers in one feeding. Now he is at about 35 - 40, but those are the small ones. I go with supers because they are very easy to keep and stay for so long. Silkworms are very good for them, but don't last as long and are harder to care for. Reptis like I said as long as you keep them at 50 degrees you can keep them for a month, so if you order 1000 hopefully he will eat those before they either die or turn into flies...

If I were you, I would order 500 small supers, get some bran cereal from the supermarket to put them in, and order 300 reptis from reptiworms.com to start. This will cost you about $30-$40 with shipping then you can see how much he eats before you end up losing feeders, and wasting money.

KellyE - I can't figure out how to put in a coupon code on my reptiworms order. Any advice?

After you put in your payment information, the next screen you will be taken to is the "order review" screen which is where you will be able to enter in your coupon code I believe. I have ordered from them three times now and it works every time. And my beardie, Puffers, love, love, loves those Reptis! :D

Hmm, thanks for the other site ABD. I checked them out and they want $30 for 500 supers! Where as I can get 500 micros from Mulberry fro $8.00. That's a big difference. Also, I didn't see reptiworms there. I did bookmark them though and will keep them in mind. I welcome any and all food resources. :)

Cool, I just took your advice and ordered 200 reptiworms with the coupon, just to try them out :) Getting sick of the crickets, 11 cents each at Petsmart, the only pet store anywhere remotely nearby :/

I think both you and your beardie will love the reptiworms! They are easy to care for (you don't have to do a thing really), great source of calcium, and I bet they will get gobbled up. Much cleaner and less expensive than crickets. I recently tried some micro supers for the first time, which I have not been happy with. Those things so so skinny, small, and take forever to catch. Might get them once in a while for variety, but will not use them as a regular. I just placed an order for some large reptis and cannot wait til they get here. I think Puffers will be happy to see them again too. lol :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
