I wondered the same thing. I've had my dragon for just over 2 months and he's 12in now, and I switched him to med/lg crickets about a month ago. I was feeding him sm/med and he was eating 60, and I finally realized why people say that their dragons eat so much. If you're feeding them tiny things, they are going to eat a ton of them! I buy 1/2 - 3/4in crickets now in bulk, and even when they're full grown at the end of the month he's still eating them fine.
They're smaller then the space between his eyes, just longer. Now he only eats around 20 or so, which is the same amount volume wise as the 60 little ones I was feeding him before. He also seems a lot happier with them as well. He obviously ate well before, but now he gets excited about eating. XD
