When they are hungry...

When your beardie is hungry, do they let you know?

The past few days my little one has started trying to 'eat' his food dish whenever he wants food. It's really annoying, as it is a ceramic dish. This one isn't even a year old yet (8-9 months now), so it's kinda cute. My older one will just lay by her food dish.

So does anyone elses have strange habits like this?

How often are you feeding live food to your 8-9 mo old beardie? He should be fed live feeders twice a day and have fresh greens available at all times.

He gets a lot of food actually. My older one never did this, which is why I thought it was amusing.

I generally leave veggies in his dish when I leave for work in the AM, then he gets live food after I return from work, and sometimes during the day if someone else is home. I'm gone before he gets up, and usually get home around 5PM.

He eats like a horse. If he runs out of food and wants more, he starts trying to bite his food dish. It's like his way of telling me "mom, I want more!". Odd personality, and I have no idea where he got it from..

Yes, it seems like they all have their little ways to tell us when they want things, some more than others.

Just a suggestion, but perhaps getting some worms like phoenix, horns or silkies and putting them in his dish of greens would be a good thing to try. That way he can have some protein during the day when you're at work unless he's a picky eater of course.

He usually gets some worms in the afternoon, when my fiance's mom comes down (she likes to feed everyone - which explains how I had a 110g leopard gecko...) to take care of a few things. I don't like leaving them in the AM, as I leave around 7:30 and him and Nibs don't get up until 10AM.. or later. I just worry they may get him.

I was curious if anyone else's beardie does anything interesting like this. I know some won't sleep without a blankie, and other things. Nibs won't eat unless someone is home sitting near her cage.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
