When can I let my dragon swim?

Hey my dragon is 7 months and I've never let it near deep water or given it a bath because my sister is scared it will go up his ear and damage him. I dont think that can happen but is there any safety concerns?

Hi! Baths are important for hydration. You should give a bath 2-3 times a week, and daily if shedding. I just use the kitchen sink and put in warm water, like for a baby, up to his shoulders. If he makes a pooper, drain the water and refill. (And disinfect the sink afterwards) I don't leave my dragon alone in the bath so I can make sure he doesn't put his nose under. If he gets water in his ears, it will drain out just fine.

Hey There! Some dragons love the water, some hate it! Mine is one of the lovers of water!! She first started putting her head under the water while she was outside playing in a rain puddle. It really freaked me out at first and scared me really bad. But,,after watching her I realized she was playing,,actually playing in the puddles and it is so cute!! I have a swimming pool and we use Baquacil..not chlorine and after asking around I found out its ok to let her in the pool. She floats around on the boogie boards,,jumps off into the water,,swims around, and sometimes she looks like a alligator!!! She puts her front legs staight back along her body and wiggles her body and swims like that. I always stay close and only let her swim for a couple seconds at a time. I was really nervous at first and was truly hoping that they were right about the water being ok for Puff...now after months of lettting her swim I know its fine,,better than fine,,,she enjoys it so much!! Not to mention how great it is that she can be hanging out in the pool with me getting more natural sunlight!!

I don't have one of her swimming yet...I will have to get one the next time my granddaughter is over to help me,,it will probably be a couple days, but I'll take some pics and get them posted.

My bearded dragon has just started getting into swimming. Unfortunately, no swimming pool, so he's been doing really short laps in a large Tupperware tub, ha ha...

My dragon still hates the water! I'm trying the high walls technique. Puff swimming would be great to see on video! :lol:

If your dragon is healthy and active and wants to go in the water,,,let 'em have at it. Mine has been going under the water for quite some time now,,she knows what she is doing.

Hey, just a reminder,,,do not let your dragons in chlorinated water!!! We use baquacil in our pool and I know there are alot of salt water systems now and I'm not sure about the salt either. Ask around and make sure the water is safe for your dragon!

I have a zoo med reptiramp and mine swims in it all the time. She doesnt like the bathtub, because she cant get out on her terms.
