What's this talk about their bearded dragons swimming?

So how do they swim? like i fill rocky's bath up to about my second knuckle or until it's about to his chest. But some people say their bearded dragons swim? How do you get them to do that? do you fill it up more? if so, how much? sorry about all the questions. :wink: lol

I put enough water in to cover their front legs and they actually swim around while wiggling their tail like an alligator. Our female actually dives in when I hold her in my hands. Bath time here is no short duration as they each prefer an hour bath each. :mrgreen: Make sure you put a cloth or type of mat down in the bottom of their container, sink or bathtub as that makes a huge difference in helping them feel secure.

I use the kitchen sink and add water as it starts to cool off. Sometimes I drain some of it and then add enough up to the right distance again. It doesn't have to be only a minimum of 15 minutes but we suggest 15 to 20 min to help with proper hydration.

The swimming is possibly the cutest thing I have ever seen! Only one of ours does it (the other doesn't like baths) and when he does, the kids all start singing, "Who's got a swimmy butt? Feliz has a swimmy butt. Who's got a swimmy butt? Swimmy, swimmy, swimmy!" - Yeah, I don't know either, but it's amusing

My oldest (9 months) loves his bath time. If I put him into the bath tub (after I cleaned it, and clean again when he's done) He will splish and splash like a champ ! Then he poos (clean up again) and back to splishing and splashing.. Ducks down and tosses water at me even. Ungrateful beast ! :wink:

I regularly give my beardies baths i let them have enough water to be able to swim in and a more shallow end so they can rest. When i first started them off i used to put their bellies in the palm of my hand and move them around to get them used to the idea. They nearly always have a good drink and poop while they're at it!

My little guy swims, I was filling a bowl up with warm water (hes still a little guy) and he was out running around on my desk looking around and i bring the bowl back with out dumping enough of it out yet.( I got extra for my plants in my room) He jumped right into the water and was like WHAT THE #$%@! Swam around frantically then realized he could swim and just floated around. Until i took him out like 4 seconds later. He doesn't really like baths now >>;

I actually bought Boga one of those small kiddie wading pools she loves it outside in the sunshine with her own pool. How spoiled can you get?

Nero has only swam once. Our other one, Sweetie-Boo won't start to swim until she's getting ready to poo. It like her ritual to work it out I guess :?

We only have one out of 4 who swims. We fill his tub up to his armpits intill he poos(5 mins) then we clean it and we refill it and its swimming time. Its funny since he has a budda belly he trys to swim but stays in one place haha so we add a little more so he can swim. He loves his baths.

my girl swims. when im running the bath water and shes sitting on my lap she gets excited it seems. as if she knows its her time. she always poops first and i clean up and then refill the water so she can play. she does the gator swim, drinks a bit. ill splash water and she'll run at my hands like get outta my water your disturbing me.

Calypso loves to swim. It does take her a few minutes to warm up first. Oscar on the other hand doesn't even move in the bath. Just stands there giving me a dirty look, LOL
