What kind of tile?

I am currently using paper towels as substrate, but I really want to switch to tile. I don't really know what to look for. All I know is that it should be non-porous. I measured the inside and is 28" by 11" and I am going to leave a 1/2" gap, so it would be 27.5" by 10.5". Should I get one big piece, or get multiple tiles? What kind of tile should I get? Also, can anybody leave me a link to some if possible? (preferably Lowes) Thanks for your help!

I use old 8"x6" wall tiles (rescued from when I upgraded / renovated my bathroom) , I essentially piled the bits of wall they were glued to up under the house and used an angle grinder to grind away the wet wall and glue attached to their backs.

Floor tiles are fine too.

I simply lay them with no glue and all butting right against each other (no need for grout). Gravity and friction hold the tiles in place.

We recently redid our basement flooring and I found some extra 18”x18” slates of tile in my basement. I will probably bring those to Lowes and have them cut it for me. Since they have just been sitting in my basement for a while, I want to disinfect them. I have heard to bake them. How long should I bake them, and at what temperature?

Hippie lizards I love your setup. I had to go with two pieces of ceramic tile 16x16 as they were the only uncoated tiles at Lowes. All the slate/natural stone tiles looked to be coated, and I have read on this forum that coating isn't safe for beardies.

I bet my Kohaku would be jealous of Loki and Daisy's cages.

Thank you. :) I Tried my best to give my beardies the best possible enclosures I Could do. :) They are spoiled little things too. The Slate/natural tile I've never had a problem with so far and seems to work well. :)

I might check Lowe's again for uncoated natural stone tile to help with my beardie nails, not brave enough to clip myself.

You'll need something made from sandstone ….

I clip all my lizards' nails , even Fluffy the water skinks nails …. I never take more than 2mm off each nail.

My beardies and bluetongues not even notice when I'm doing it as I wait for them to be super relaxed when having a long snuggle on my tummy/chest. Fluffy is not so keen on the process but "tolerates" my attentions.

I'll see what I can find. I never had a chance to train her properly to be held when she was younger. So she's still skittish when I hold her and prefers to run up my shoulder. I will check into the sandstone tile, thank you for the suggestion.

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
