What is going on?????

Some background information

Toby is about 7 to 9 months old. He is 11 1/2 inches long with a significant tail nip (only has about 2 inches of his tail. His current set up is as follows:
36'x20'x12' enclosure
tile substrate
105 basking 75 cool end (taken with a digital therm after 45 min.)
Sun Force MVB 100watt 10 inches from basking area
Fed crickets and hornworms only twice a day (dusted once a day with calcium no vit d) herpa vit twice wk
Given fresh veggie salad every day (usually collards and dandelion greens)
Poops once a day
given a bath 5 to 7 times a week
Just finished a shed two weeks ago (but did notice a little shed around his mouth two days ago)

Now the problem. For the last two days he has been eating less and less. He will usually eat 60 or so cixs a day or 40 crix with a couple of hornworms. On Thurs (found a little shed on his mouth) he ate 45 cix. Yesterday only 30 crix and today only 15 so far. I am worried about him and wondering if he is sick. The other day I thought I heard a rumbling sound coming from him but I haven't noticed it since. Just now he was head bobbing at me! :shock:

Could there be something wrong with him or is he approaching adolescence?

Your beardie might be getting ready for brumation or in other words getting ready to hibernate. Is your deardie still deficating? I am no vet or anything but I will try to help.

I would think that but he isn't even a year old, and is still alert and up moving around.

yes every day I have a present in the viv or tub.

forgot to mention that urates are fine, soft and white. He is not stressed out, belly is white, but on Thursday, I noticed he was dark and really stressed out. Once I picked him up he was fine, regular color and stress marks gone. I gave him his regular bath and all was fine. (that was the night I thought I heard the rumbling.)

You may want to give your local vet a call cause I am clueless. Best of luck.

Thanks for helping. I may just visit our vet and have her run a fecal to see if it is parasites or something else. I have been feeding crixs so it could be. I am wondering if he has reached a point where his growing is slowing down, so he doesn't need to eat as much. Right now he has ate 25 crixs, had his bath and is resting.

Ok I think I might have the nature of Toby's problem. He is sick of crixs and its my fault. After feeding him hornworms, he is now expanding his taste buds. :roll: I noticed this morning that all of his collard greens were gone, and he wouldn't touch his usual crixs. I literally had to dangle them infront of him to entice him to eat them and he only ate 10. I had some small (a little longer than the space of his eyes) superworms that had recently shed so I thought why not. It would be about 15 inches if he had most of his tail, and maybe 16. He gobbled them up like they were candy. :| Now I have proved my theory, but I am going to be cautious about impaction. He gets daily baths, and I am going to up his veggie intake to make sure. Any thoughts?

Hello!

So he is starting to shead then? Judah gets really cranky when he sheads and eats alot less than normal, so this could be it. Just and FYI you can take as tool sample into the vet for a parasite analysis, it is much cheeper than taking your beardie in. You may also be right, he is very fond of the worms, sometimes when they get a food they really like they protest all other things.

He should not be brumating at his age.
