What is a Lay Box?

Recently discovered my Oscar is a Oscarella and she's been running around her tank like a crazy person! I take her out and let her run around on the floor, but she's become very stealthy and knows exactly how to escape, so I put her back in the tank. It's a 40 gallon breeder tank. I've seen the term Lay Box in an old post, but would like to know exactly what that is and how do I make one?

A lay box is used to allow them to dig and lay eggs in a tunnel. They are usually made with a tote bin of some kind and filled with a mix of damp play sand and organic topsoil. The consistency of the mix should be able to hold a tunnel structure. You can do this with a cut and cover method using a box with one side cut out of it too. Generally you just need to get a hole started and they'll keep digging it out and then lay eggs in the tunnel. This process isn't usually instantaneous though and can take several days and they can lay several clutches of infertile eggs sometimes. This seems to vary a lot between dragons.
