what do I all need?

In the next few days im going to be getting the nessesary things for my beardy to be home and hopefully go get him on Tues.

Im not sure if I know what all to get. Im starting off with a 36x18x12 tank. I know that will only work for a few months.

For the tank I was planning on either paper towel or that carpet stuff. Until I get a bigger cage that will actully have everything.

So for the tank I have Is this all I need?

Zoo Med Reptism 10.0 Uvb bulb Good or Bad?
Zoo Med Repti Basking spot lamp bulb Good or bad?
Fluker's Digital disply thermo hygrometer Good Bad? Do I need it?
Petco Reptile habitat humidity gauge. Do I need 2 one for each end?

And then Ive seen basking rocks in the pictures are they bad?

What type of Vitemin and Calecim do they need?

Welcome to the world of beardie slavedom. Great to see that you are researching ahead of getting your dragon.
OK-To answer your questions-
The reptisun 10.0 is a great bulb. Just make sure it is a tube not coil or compact. Petmountain.com has them about half the price of the pet stores. Just get a standard florescent tube holder at Wal mart or Lowe's. It is cheaper than the specialty ones and works the same.
You don't need a special basking bulb. Get a halogen floodlight, again from W-M, Lowe's or the like, half the price, same result. Try a 75 watt first and work from there as your temps dictate.
You can get an Accurite indoor/outdoor thermometer at-you guessed it Wal Mart- for around $12. It has a digital prob AND reads the humidity. Find it in hardware with all the other stuff. One stop shopping. :lol:
You can use non-adhesive shelf liner, if you like. It is cheap, easy to clean and looks nicer than paper towels.

As for vits and calcium-Rep Cal Herptivite, blue lable and Rep Cal Calcuim w/t Vit D (phosphorus-free) pink label. The jars will last a long time with one beardie.

Heat rocks are bad. They gage temps with the top of their head, so a heat rock could burn their tummy. Just a large rock will do and a branch or two. I hung some fake vines on the back of my viv and Bogie loved to climb them when he was small. now he hides in them. You can make him a hide by cutting a hole in the side of a shoe box. Makes a nice dragon cave.
You should prob get your feeders online. If you order from near your area you can get crickets for 3 cents or less each, with extras in each order. The pet stores make sure you pay for each and every bug and they charge from 9 to 15 cents each! :shock: Your baby will soon be eating over 50 a DAY. They grow sooo fast.

Get the thermometer Sandy recommended. You need the probe for the basking area so you know the precise temps. It also has a humidity gauge and additional themometer built in. The Flukers is nice but doesn't have a probe so is only good for the cool end, and you only need to know the overall humidity. Its the temps you need to know for both ends.

Are those caves that are heated okay. Since they would since it on there back?

Good question. I've never seen those, so I don't know. I do know as long as the night time temps stay above 60 he should be ok. I don't know about you, but I never let my house get that cold.

This is just my opinion but I like bigappleherp.com for their house brand CHE's and they have reptisun 10.0 for cheap too. (a couple penny's cheaper maybe LOL) I also bought lots of other stuff from them like hammocks, log hides, fixtures for my CHE's, and water dishes. This is also just my opinion that if your going to get a BD that you might as well buy or make the biggest enclosure they will ever need in the first place, its cheaper in the long run. I am building some enclosures right now (4'L x 3'D x 2'H) that will be pretty decent looking and have tile floors for about $300 each. That price includes everything. (CHE's and UVB too)
