What am I gonna do

my friends sister has a beardie and wants to give it to me and all the supplys for free. my rents are being totally unfair and wont let me get one and wont tell me why....is their any good advice i could use to try and convice them (ex. their low maintence, cheap to own ect.)

I'm actually quite puzzled as to why buildings wouldn't allow these type of pets.
Most buildings don't allow pets because of the noise factor, and even the mess factor and allergies.

But reptiles? Most, if not all, don't make any noise. You dont have allergies to them... (no fur.) And there is no "big mess" or stains on the carpets at all.

Really, I'm not sure how you would battle the manager with this.
The fact about reptiles, is that they need live food, so maybe managers or appartment owners don't like the fact that mice, or bugs can escape.

The only way I can see you winning is if you go through all the factors as to why pets aren't allowed, and vs them with how your pet doesn't do any of those things.
And then with the food, well you can feed worms, pelletes and lettuce. The worms have no chance of escaping, and if you do.. they'll just die. (Don't mention that ? lol.)

But I guess crickets would kind of be out of the question, unless you can convince the practie of feedng crickets.

I honestly don't see (other than the live feeder POSSIBLY being a problem, which even then I don't see how live food is a problem in appartments.) how reptiles aren't allowed!
Fish, I can reason with, you have a tank and if that breaks, well there is major water flood to deal with!

But, good luck, this is pretty much the only "problem" i can see with reptiles, but it's not even a problem, really.
But I bet some managers might feel uncomfortable with little animals around to be fed to another one.

My friend also wants to have pets but where she lives the don't allow it UNLESS she pays a little extra each month or so...When I look for my own place Im deff getting one where pets are okay >.< Im not dealing with this kinda crap! lol I love my animals too much!

Probably because when the guy next door buys a cute little burmese python not comprehending the fact that it gets to be a 15' snake and it escapes and strangles the neighbors kid because they were still feeding it mice the apartment complex gets sued.

Thus the simplest solution is to say no pets period. Much simpler for them.

I had an apartment manager that let me have my dragon and my snake. Just before we moved out we got new management and our new contract said no pets at all. In fact it even specified reptiles.. I guess they disagreed with her.

I also had horrible problems trying to get house insurance when we bought our place. I was turned down by two companies because of my boa. Apparantly they think a 6' snake is a hazard and is going to escape and kill someone despite the fact that there has never been a single death attributed to a red tail boa. I finally got insurance when I found a company that didn't ask about pets..

Yes, I'm pretty sure that's what Dare means by "rents".

Well, to convince them I would first tell them that a dragon will NOT grow to an unmanagable size, they are very gentle and not aggressive so they are not "dangerous" to own.

Also tell them what an awesome deal this is that you've been offered. And lastly if you can't have them Dare..tell your friend I will gladly take them :lol:
