Your Monitor is beautiful. I must admit, it takes alot to make me nervous, but I could never have a monitor because I'd be afraid of making that one wrong move- and loosing a finger or hand, lol. That's why I love beardies so much... When my friends see Falkor, they ask "does she bite?" and basically I can answer no, because she's so sweet. I like not having to keep my guard up. But either way I wish you lots of luck because I'm sure if you put the effort and hard work into it- you will end up with a really great pet!

Welding gloves- that what shelters use on tuff/feral critters. They are really thick leather. Wow, congrats on the new lizard- hes' really cool! I would be worried about something like that chowing down on the furry creatures that run around here!

Thanks Angie ! TO be honest.. I am SOOOO NERVOUS! Before I got him I've been doing so much research on the internet, and I feel like now I need to do MORE ! He's still sweet and gentle, but only because he's terrified of me. Poor thing, when I come close to his tank, he curls up so tight . I sit by his tank and talk to him, and pet him, but he's so scared. I LOVE beardies to death.. I plan on getting another soon (I've given hints on what I want for v day gift ) I am really nervous on when he gets older and bigger... I've seen videos on youtube where they've trained their monitors to be like beardies to us lol.. but what if he doesn't turn out that way ? I have hope and i will love him regardless !

I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THAT ! Omg if i could take a pic of my hands/arms.. you would think I'm some kind of crazy suicidal chick. I have cuts.. I mean DEEP CUTS ! He hasn't tried to bite me.. mostly just from his nails, but he's so strong that when he's on me and he tries to get away, he'll scratch you so deep and won't let go ! I dont have any furry creatures, hehe.. just my beardies I have him in my room right now so I can lock the door when i leave for work because the first night i brought him home, MJ walked by his tank and he tried to attack her from inside his tank


All I can say is, this will be a fun journey !!! But as long as I have my lovelies MJ & Prince by my side.. we'll make it just fine ! :wink:

Yes you tube is sooo addicting when I watch monitors ! Although it's pretty sad when I see ppl purposely raise them to be mean scary monsters eating baby chicks, rabbits , etc. But same as beardies.. but oh well .

It's been a week and he's still stressed out !! I keep comparing him to MJ and I keep forgetting that Monitors arent as cuddly and snuggly as beardies

Hi Bob ! The training on taming him pretty much hasn't even started, he's still not used to his surroundings. I'm holding him daily at least 15 min , and petting him constantly. He hasn't tried to bite or hiss at me lately, just that when I come close, he curls up relaly tight .. and when I do hold him, he'd try to get away by scratching the crap out of me. One Good thing though, he's eating and pooping and drinking !! Woo hoo ! lol. I just want him to hurry up and get used to his new home and mommy so I can start with the handling more, etc
