Just picked up my new baby from PetCo(icky place, but my bleeding heart wouldn't let me pass the little guy by...I posted a thread in the Rescue forum). When I first held him/her, he was shaky and cold, but after a bit of babyfood, a bath, and a microwaved washcloth, he/she wont stop moving!
I speed ordered the viv/lights/heat/everything so it should be getting here later today, and in the meantime, Basils just hanging out in a shoebox under the sun lined with warm dry washclothes :)
I have a new baby!!!! :D :D :D Now if only I can figure out the gender...

Thank you! :D
Yes, it was absolute torture reading and posting here with no beardie of my own to burrito haha :blob5:
He/she did two big poops today too. they were both mainly huge cricket parts, the size that I feed my adults. :banghead:
They came out though, which is something I'm really thankful for. A little olive oil/applesauce really does the trick!

Hello Emily,

Basil is precious! What a little cutie pie he is, & looks like he is enjoying looking out the window, too. :D
I hope you will enjoy him & treasure this time when he is so small because he wont stay that way for very long.

Basil has been sleeping most of today. He's pooped twice but will barely eat, but I'm going to assume that all of that is due to relocation stress.
I was doing some work on my computer with Basil next to me one minute, and the next minute he was halfway across the room! I'm so used to these big fat beardies that can rarely do anything without me noticing :p (I'm so sorry Rockie, I didn't mean to say the f-word. You're just a big boy!)

Caught Basil snuggling up to his tubesock heating pad in the shoebox(I decided to keep it in the windowsill for sunny days since the viv doesn't get much sun). Of course he/she woke up and gave me the stink eye when the camera was out but I couldnt resist. :D

Welcome Basil, you cute little beardie, you! But huggles from our crew to you that you enjoy your new wonderful home. Wait until he/she gets his new home, he'll perk right up, as he did after his first bath. Sometimes you can figure out males by their stance. I've seen it over and over, their arms go straight out from the shoulder and their snouts are more pointy. Females are born with raised skin along the vent on the tail side. Sometimes you can see or not see this early. There's pictures in an article on this forum to show the difference.

Basil is so cute and thanks for brining him to a great home. I had pet stores with a passion, the ones I hate the worst are the ones that sell reptiles without any knowledge of how to care for them. Beardies need specific care, without it, they don't thrive.

Hope to see more pictures, can't wait to see his viv. Thanks so much for sharing.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
