Maybe AHBD can help you ---- not being able to walk sounds like MBD --- what kind of UVB are you using? Please NO coils -- they are inadequate and will cause all kind of health issuesHello guys it's me again. My little man is having some bad health issues at the moment. Before you ask, yes I was at the vet and yes multiple times. I have another vet appointment scheduled for Friday.
He's not able to walk around without being in pain, he always has a black beard and seems to be breathing heavily. His front legs do not work like they should, he's pushing himself with his back legs and often lands on his back, unable to move himself from that position. I'm so scared that at some point he'll be on his back while I'm at work.
Today I noticed those weird spots on his tongue, they haven't been there before. Vet said there's no respiratory infection or something as far as he can tell. Have you ever seen this before? Google couldn't help me either.
Again, the next vet visit is due in two days, I'll ask him about that then but I just want to know if maybe someone has a clue what that could be
Thank you so much in advance!
The vet did some ultrasounds and told me his bones were fine, but I should give him some extra calcium just in case. Been giving him some liquid calcium since a week but it didn't improve.Maybe AHBD can help you ---- not being able to walk sounds like MBD --- what kind of UVB are you using? @AHBD
Ok so are the legs swollen up? What insect are you feeding? The T 5 is in the tank or top of screen? This plays a huge roll in the UVB hes getting--The vet did some ultrasounds and told me his bones were fine, but I should give him some extra calcium just in case. I use the reptisun 10.0 t5 uvb, mounted inside the enclosure. Always measured the distance to him so that he could get all the uvb he needs. New one just arrived today, old one was about 7 months old. The package said replace after 12 but since his health issues started I wanted to get him a new one
Front legs are a little bigger than usual, and the t5 is in the tank. I have a wooden tank and the light is mounted inside. I'm feeding dubias and rose beetle larvae, but those only because he hasn't been eating much and that seem to be the only thing he'll eat at the moment.Ok so are the legs swollen up? Was blood work done? I am wondering if he's got gout - uric acid levels would need to be done to see if they are high- dubias are not a good feeder if he does have gout- are the legs sore to touch gout is painfulHere's a picture of his left front leg for reference
Yes blood work got done, inflammation values were really high. Got some medicine for that but he didn't like that. Was blood work done? Ok so post the blood work Tracie can help you w/ those values- what med was he put on and did it help w/ the swelling?Yes blood work got done, inflammation values were really high. Got some medicine for that but he didn't like that.
Its osb, standart wood for tanks here, almost every tank is made of itCan i ask what type of wood the tank is made from? Every single variety of evergreen is toxic to them if it isn't sealed.
I don't have a picture of the blood workOk so post the blood work Tracie can help you w/ those values- what med was he put on and did it help w/ the swelling?
Request the blood work have them email it to you--- please post the meds he is / was on and how much you were giving -- Tracie is going to best help here since shes the vet tech on here -- and yes the falling onto the back is not good - please lower his basking area - you can use rolled up dish towels so hes not falling off of anything and get your surface basking temps off of them w/ your digital probe thermometer - its funny they didnt prescribe a antibiotic if its an infection - is he eating?I don't have a picture of the blood work
The vet said that every other value was fine, just inflammation level was really high, like he's fighting an infection.
I'm trying my best to translate here, it was a pain medication and anti inflammation medicine. But he reacted badly to it and I stopped giving it to him. He's on vitamin b12 and liquid calcium now.
The falling on his back thing scares me the most tho, he seems so depressed the whole day and I'm really scared.
Osb appears to be made of popular and aspen, so yes some evergreen. If it is a store bought habitat it is likely sealed. If it isn't sealed i would consider doing so personally. Its osb, standart wood for tanks here, almost every tank is made of it
