Weird Behavior

My bearded dragon has started a weird new behavior that I've noticed over the past week. He will grab a piece of kale, keep it in his mouth, touch his nose to the ground, and start moving his back legs really fast like he's trying to dig somewhere, but he stays in place. Does anyone know what he is doing?
