Hey guys just wondering how much should a nearly 2 year old beardie weigh my beardie is 470 grams is that ok? he is very healthy and active all day everyday
Thanks
Hi there....actually, it depends on the length of the dragon, and there is always leeway to account for the body structure. Like people, some dragons are bigger boned than others, and weight differs. In general his weight would be fine for most 18 - 21 " dragons....if he were shorter it would be getting close to being obese, and if he were longer he would possibly be on the thin side. Can you post a picture ?
Hi there thanks for replying, he is 19 inches long nose to tale i measured him today he was 18 inches i measure him every month, from February last year all the way till December he was the same 18 inches, today i measured him and he is 19 inches long he has grown an inch in less than a month? he is still growing and he is almost 2 years old i thought he stopped as he had never got any bigger last year his weight stayed the same which was 450 grams now he is 475-480 grams i haven't changed any of his foods or the amount he eats either. i have a few pics of him to show you i think he looks fine and not too skinny or chubby see what you think.
Thanks
HE looks nice + healthy, good thickness to his tail [ you don't want to see " hipbones " ] and his legs look good + strong. He could stand to have a little more weight on him, but he is not unhealthy looking at all. Another 40 - 50 grams would be fine....he is still young + obviously still growing a bit and he may gain even more than that, but all in all he looks good.
i have seen and heard of beardies with real bad hipbones showing looks awful bless them, thanks for all your help and advice i will get him to slowly gain those extra grams i know he will love that extra bit of food, and see how much bigger he gets .
Thanks
