I'm getting her to look at couple of spots on his skin that i'm concerned about but the main thing is i want a fecal check to make sure no parasites and just overall exam to make sure he looks healthy.

you should never have a heat source without a stat on it - you can kill a baby beardie quite easily if it is over-heating

a dimmer stat is by far the best for a basking bulb heat source

there are two main dimmer stats available - one is habistat, I think the other is called something like microclimate
I paid £30 for mine but I have no idea what it would cost in the US - probably cheaper than here

good reptile shops will stock them and you can definitely find them on ebay

ok :), how do they work? All my baskin spot light is is a plug in to the wall? Would I need to wire a wire into the thermostat or something?

you simply plug the light into the dimmer socket and then the dimmer plug into the mains socket.

you put the temperature probe in the cool end of the viv and set the stat to about 82-85F. The light will heat the viv till the cool end is that temperature and then dim to maintain the heat at that level.

If it is too dim all the time turn the stat up a little or get a lower wattage bulb.

Once it's stable you measure the basking spot and if that is not in the 110-115F range you adjust the stat a little at a time to get it right.

100 is not hot enough for basking, it's about the hottest the ambient temperature at the hot end should ever go although it's best to keep it in the 90s; you can let the basking spot go as high as 120 safely as long as there is a cool end they can escape to

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
