Hi everyone!

I adopted my first dragon today and I'm still fixing her tank. I was wondering if I can put water in the tank (for her to drink, etc)

I have read that one shouldnt because it can cause humidity, but I also read that it's okay... :?

Should I just mist her (outside of the tank) and bathe her than leaving water in there? But dont they get thirsty and need to drink water?

IF some one can clarify this for me, that would be great.

I want to give the best to my dragon, so any other tips/advice that isnt related to water in the tank is also welcome!

I will post a few more photos in my INTRO and I will also make a thread for her in Beardie tales or Photo Expressions as days go by :)

As long as the humidity levels are not too high then you will be alright.

Misting in the tank will cause Humidity levels to rise, so be sure and do it outside of the tank. Misting is fine, but dragons can only take in water either by drinking or through their vent. So unless they enjoy you spraying them in the face with water they might not drink too well.

IMO its much easier to just give a bath every 2-3 days for 15-25 minutes and be done with it. However if you put a water dish in and she will drink from it then thats fine just so long as the humidity levels are not TOO high in the tank.

thank you very much, that was very helpful! :study:

I don't know very much about humidity, but I do have two water dishes in my enclosure. Never seen Lucy drink from them... but I believe that it is better to have them there than to have her be dehydrated.

To piggyback on your question and answer: What happens if the humidity is too high? I see so many posts saying what to do if it is and what to do to prevent it, but none tell of the complications.

Thx,,,

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
