I was thinking about remodleing my little dudes viv and decided to do a dark evil theam , so I'm looking for ideas in the mall and stuff and came across a few realy cool items one of witch is a water fountain that has a staked vampire. And looks realy cool so if any one could just give me their opinion on the foutain in the viv I would be grateful .

the humidity issue really depends on how large the fountain is and which side of the enclosure you have it on (hot or cool). Im also guessing this is a relatively large enclosure. Most websites suggest having water available for dragons at all times and that it be large enough for him to soak. I would experiment with the fountain, put it on the cold side of the enclosure, if its not excessively large, youll be fine. If you notice any symptoms of excess humidity (weezing, runny nose), then you should take it out. You will probably also see your dragon drinking from the water because it is moving. most dragons wont drink from a still water source. If humidity turns out to be a problem, you may even use a dehumidifier.

Well the tank is a 55 gal long and yea the cool side is the side I was thinking of putting it on I don't think the fountain holds any more than a cup of water, about drinking from a still water sorce I don't know how true that is but he dose it all the time and my other dose also , and I have also read water should always be avilable for them , so do you think this tank size would be ok for what i'd like to do

if it really does only hold "A" cup of water, then absolutely. But a 55 gallon tank is relatively small (in my opinion). i have a huge 4.5 by 2.5 by 2 foot cage for my full grown adult. Just keep an eye on the humidity, most sites recommend the highest humidity be around 40%. Keep an eye on him for several days and even weeks to see if he is weezing or has a runny nose

I'm curently looking for a 75gal that I can move him to and move my smaller bd into the 55gal , if I do go ahead with it I most definitly will keep an eye on him and maybe get a dehumidafier just to be sure.

can you guys verify whether or not to put water in the cage? i thought you werent suppose to put water in the cage? ive had mine a year now an hes never had water in there, only baths. now im concerned, if he needs a water bowl ill buy one, but when ive read on here everyone said humidity was too much of an issue to keep a bowl in there. which one is it?

No. dargons do not NEED a water source. they get water from the food they eat (provided that you feed fresh veggies, and live feeders). In the wild they hardly are ever near a water source, they recieve all their water from their food and dew from the mornings. Just make sure hes eating enough and that you spray him at least once a day, and thet he recieves a bath at least once a week. Humidity CAN be an issue if their is enough water and heat. Humidity should not rise above 40% or so.

Keep it on the cool side is what I've been told so it won't cause vapor that's were humidity comes from, and to add to that the exotics place that told me that used this analigy "when you get thirsty do you get up and go get a drink or wait till your in the shower" so I bought a water bowl.

But dragons are much different than humans. We can only live three days without a direct water source. Dragons can live their entire lives on water they recieve only from their food

Somebody needs to tell fluffy that because he drinks from his bowl like every drink could be his last.

my cage is only 4x2x2, so maybe since yours is so big that is why you dont have any issues with humidity because its dispersed in enough area . maybe that is the key here, im not sure about it until i make his new cage which will be a little bigger, but id say to any in a medium to smaller cage it might not be a good idea, so go by cage size.
my cage theme i guess would be "comfy blanket" theme Lol cause thats what it seems to be, though he likes that theme

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
