water dish quesstion

i own 2 dragons both live together in the same 40 gal tank. i dont really see them drink alot but i always fill my water dish up.. right now i have a small dish and from day to day while i empty their water dish i notice some skin that they shed or just some kind of evidence of one or both of them possibly bathing. I was woundering if i were to buy a bigger dish like in this link http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752538 that if i was to put it on the hotter side of the tank that they may have more water and also they could do their thing in there.. i dont know tho if it would harm them by drinking their own filth... im sure they are rugged enough to withstand some of their own debri right...

The primary issue with water dishes is that they raise the humidity of a tank to unacceptable levels. Putting one on the hot side of the tank will make the burn off worse, and could cause them to get quite sick. I would guess that the debris you're seeing is just from them running around the tank. I frequently find shed in my bowls, but as I'm home all day I can tell you for a fact none of them sit in them.

Btw, the tank you've got them in is quite small even for one dragon. For 2 it could really cause some issues down the road, dragons are not social animals & don't like sharing their territory. Even if they act friendly, months or even years down the road one could turn on the other and hurt it quite badly.

Ive used water bowels for years. I tend to keep them between the hot and cool side. All my dragons from biggest to smallest have soaked themselves on a regular basis. On a diff note I would reccomend seperation of your 2. a 40 breeder is a min size for 1 dragon.

It's good that you're aware, but my newest girl is 6 weeks old and already missing the end of her tail because of a clutchmate. They're never to young to do some major damage to each other.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
